They may have been awful (are we talking in facts or opinions here?) but at least the bands where original enough to do something with the song...

no missy, The sparks, the strokes, the vines, etc... its like the 60s never happened. Why else would bands deliberatly play through shitty amplifiers, wear dated clothes, use crappy microphones and play predictable music using basic techniques> A synic may say its because after the students have finished watching hollyoaks they like to sit in wetherspoons and pretend to be retro... not me... I think a decade of two of histroy got lost somewhere... what a shame

No you will find it is Sparks, they were originally called Halfnelson back in the day. Queen supported them on their first tour and owe their entire career to Sparks.
