u have to have good timing catch him when hes open speed and timing also fainting punches get him t tur just the right way and boom
The funny thing is...people actually believe that Soliman was effective against Wright...& that aint funny...it's hillarious. Soliman broke the middleweight compu-box record by throwing 1260 total punches...but throwing don't mean jack shit when you can't land 'em.Originally Posted by glennf
Out of those 100+ punches that he threw per round...Soliman missed more than 1,000 of them. That's factual numbers also.
Wright outlanded him 300-174 in punches.
Now who was effective & who wasn't? Just because you look good throwing an assload of punches...well that don't make it so.

You are correct of course with the stats but Soliman sure looked good and made an entertaining fight of it. Betcha Winky wants no part of Soliman again though. Winky doesn't waste a shot which is the differance in class.Originally Posted by wacko3205
Bait him a bit with a light fast jab , and when he takes it! be ready to counter the counter !Originally Posted by Scrap
the purpose is not too bust through the defense or knock down the door per say , rather let him to open up the front door on his own . the cagy bastard !

I Love the guy ! Truly an amazing man ! The wisdom. What you want to do is sit back and really listen to what he has to say, he does not speak often, but when he does you will be wise to lend an ear ! cc Ice ColdOriginally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING

I'd say "your shoe is untied", then catch him with an uppercut, when he looks down.
I think the more Winky moves up in weight, the more vulnerable he will be. There's only so much of a battering a guy can take on the arms and with his average power, the bigger stronger guys will be aplying more pressure. I think Calazghe could bust through with his volume and power. I like your analysis LG,great thinking!!!! I'd love to see a Pantera or Pavlik,I think they could take Winky's power and with their freakish power,I think they could bust through the guard and hurt Winky.
You have to use angles and throw lots of punches. You cant come strait in on him because he will block your punches with his forearms. Most guys will eventually drop their hands enough for you to land solid punches (especially as a fight goes on) but not Winky. Sam Soliman was somewhat sucessful because he used angles and made Winky work at an high pace.

Volume and angles....it is not that hard to figure out...Problem is you have to be able to substain your attack and not let up...Once you lose your rythm you might as well start over....Wrights defence is in the top 5 of all time IMO.....It has made him world champion,,,Rich and when he retires will assure him of a long life after the sport with no complications due to abuse...Hell if I was a fighter I wouldn't be worried about how to get through I would be more inclined on how to copy it

No offence Boom...but how do people think that Soliman was even somewhat sucessful landing only 17% of his punches?Originally Posted by BoomBoom
Sure Soliman looked busy throwing 100+ punches in a round...but hardly any of that 100+ found a home anywhere but on forearms & elbows.
Taylor would be the only one to be considered sucessful against Wright lately.

Yeah Taylor was doing well in spots , I would say Quartey had some positive things going also, It's just Ike was a bit too small... he had the right idea though. I really enjoyed the Wright - Quartey fight , both guys had nice output and good sustain over the course of the match !Originally Posted by wacko3205
