I see the first round as being a dance competition. I just think Bernard has the edge when it comes to offense, Bernard isnt going to let Winky take over the crown of best defensive fighter. Then hes going after Calzaghe.I think the winner of this fight should fight Calzaghe, either would be another great fight.
I think the winner will get a big fight out of this. Taylor, Kessler, Calzaghe, maybe even Chad Dawson could all be in line for the winner.

Winky isn't a pure counter puncher. He beat Taylor to the punch most of the fight. The only time he didn't was when he became flatfooted. I don't think Winky is going to let his foot off the gas pedal. Especially in the first part of the fight and then it could get good.

    Is this fight PPV?
I'm a fan in JC's skills, and he very well could beat both of them. But why are we giving him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the Winky and Bernard fights? He's made 1 big fight his entire career and he came very close to screwing that one up. Yet we're supposed to believe that he tried to make these fights happen instead of being content fighting in his backyard against fighters who hardly pose a threat to him?

And why wouldn't Winky take this fight? Bernard is the champ at 175. He's meeting him at a catch weight but it's still a light heavyweight bout and I would assume it's for the title...why wouldn't he want a title shot? Especially at 175 where he makes easy work of everyone there.

And why wouldn't Bernard want Winky? If he loses, he loses to a top P4P guy and in all likelihood, he sees the decision. Plus it brings the most money to the table. Yeah he's a smaller guy but ask yourself this. Is Bernard fighting Winky for any reasons different then why Oscar is fighting Floyd?

Yet I haven't heard Oscar catching any flak. Honestly, the backlash against this fight is surprising to me. Boring fight? Potentially. Insignificant? That's just ludicrous imo.
Why would he want a title shot, who else is there to fight at that weight after B Hop,presuming he wins? Whereas at 160 there were so many great fights to be made first and second,a JT fight takes precedent simply because it's unresolved business ,third,I'm sure he would have made more from the JT fight and fourth,he has more options after the fight. It would also be a more exciting fight.

And the Oscar Floyd is TOTALLY different! Floyd is the one who kept calling Oscar out! Floyd is the one who wants the big $$$ no matter what! Oscar is taking a much bigger risk than Winky is.

And like I said, anyone can say what they want, but Fenster has posted so much information about JC wanting to make a fight with B Hop. And at this stage,JC would hand them both(Winky and B Hop)ass whoopings imo.

Now you're coming round to my way of thinking

He did what Ray Robinson could not and won the light heavyweight title. Robinson was also scheduled to fight Floyd Patterson before it fell through after Patterson was knocked out against Liston. Hopkins is as keen a boxing historian as anyone. He knows that if he wins a heavyweight crown it would put him in the top 10 greatest of all time. Anyone with an appreciation of boxing history can see the merit in such a fight. He's also trying to create a better legacy than his two arch rivals Roy Jones Jr and James Toney.
There's four belts today not one. Foreman won back the linear title... Did you class Roy Jones as the no.1 heavyweight champ of the world when he beat Johnnyboy? Remember Lennox Lewis? Ruiz was nothing but a pony alphabet holder. Yet again, nobody gives a funk about Hopkins boring a shit-alphabet-plodder to death.

And Hopkins would NEVER in a million, GAZILLION years be regarded as a top 10 fighter of all time

    Most BORING "great" fighter maybe.

He could fight a lot of people. Winky isn't that small. He started his career at 154, and basically killed himself to make it. He's really only fighting 10 lbs above his natural weight. And that can bee put on easily. I bet you when the two step into the ring that Winky will be the same size as Hopkins. If you've seen the sparring videos of Wright and Tarver, Wright is just as big as Tarver is. Shorter but it's not like it's going to be Ouma - Taylor in there. Wright wasn't to terribly smaller then JT either and JT is huge. People are holding his reign at 154 against him. But didn't Mayweather fight at 129 and 135? Yet most people believe he belongs at 147.

And I do agree that the JT fight should take precedent over a B-Hop fight but what do you do? He didn't want that fight so he took the next best fight out there.

I don't think Calzaghe belongs in the discussion. Not at all. MIKKELL KESSLER, is the guy he has to fight. Let him worry about the guys who are actually at his weight. That's a big fight, one that needs to be made before JC can think about Hopkins or Wright. As for Calzaghe matching up with them - he's a fast fighter - that's about the only advantage he has over either of them. I would favor him against Hopkins but not Wright.

And I was weighing Hopkins risk against Wright compared to Oscar's. Both are aging. Facing top P4P guys with little power and guys that bring a bigger payday then anyone else out there. But because the styles aren't as appeasing and because Calzaghe is sitting there fighting Manfredo, this match up gets crucified.

21 title defenses and he doesn't even get consideration? I think most everyone would have Hopkins in the to 20. Most would have him top 15. Yet is somehow unfathomable that he IN A GAZILLION years is top 10 All time? That couldn't be farther from the case, especially if he wins the Wright fight and goes on to win a couple more big ones.
