Agreed. I could even see something tragic happening in the ring once he steps up the competition. He should drop down to 154 and learn some fundamental defensive skills.Originally Posted by wacko3205

He's not over-rated, just over popular.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!
For a fighter at his age with his number of fights, he has had GREAT competition. I would guess you think Kelly Pavlik is hugely overrated and a bum, too? He's 30 fights into his career and his resume is roughly the same as Duddy's. Duddy is not overrated. I don't know anyone who thinks he's a top 5 MW right now. Is he a top 15 or top 10. Absolutely, even with his current flaws.Originally Posted by The Shadow
He's only an accident waiting to happen if he gets in the ring with Miranda, Taylor, Wright, Abraham, maybe Sturm or Soliman. Wacko, I know Pavlik is your boy, but I'll tell you this, if Pavlik fought Duddy, Duddy would be the best fighter Pavlik has faced by a long shot. Yes, resume is not everything, and I would agree that Pavlik is more polished than Duddy, but we KNOW Duddy has heart and chin, two elements of a great fighter. Do we know any of that about Pavlik? Seems to me Miranda is pretty unpolished, too, and he's doing OK for himself. Power and a chin can get you a long way.
19 fights. 19 Fights. This guy is not a finished product, and he is WAY ahead of were most guys are at his stage. If he wants to be great, there are areas he needs to improve.

I agree.. good match making is the key to keeping him undefeated .. I felt that Luis Ramon Campas beat him by 3 or 4 rounds a few months back . Duddy reminds me of a middleweight version of Joe Mesi .Originally Posted by wacko3205
cc.....very well said. For only 19 pro fights he has some good names on his record. He still has somethings to improve upon but it is still early in his career. Duddy has some solid things going for him and time to work on the things he needs to improve upon. No since in dooming him yet.Originally Posted by SeanE

Duddy is very overrated.
The wicked shall die by there own wickedness.
My point is he takes to many shots as does Duddy but he still won world titles as does Ricky Hatton and he's won world titlesOriginally Posted by P.G.H Angel Eyes
CC back. If Duddy ends up with a career like Gatti, I would be plenty happy. If he's nothing more than an exciting fighter who is the gateway to the upper echelon, so what? He COULD develop into more. Maybe he will maybe he won't. People just hate on him because he has the audacity to have good management and he's making a few dollars earlier in his career than most guys. Fair play to him. He don't talk much trash, he don't claim to be anything more than he is, and be puts on a good show. What's wrong with that? Everybody bitches and moans about certain fighters getting screwed by my managers or having idiotic career development. Along comes a young figher who makes a few bucks, has logical steps up in competition, and puts on a good show, and people trash him.Originally Posted by TyBuff
Is Duddy the next MW champion...maybe not. Is he the next great thing? That's up for question. Is he overrated? No way. In fact, he might be underrated.
Right on the money!Originally Posted by yoitsdan
