I know im like a week late with this but seriously, 111-116? Eh?! 118-109 WTF!!!Thats just upsetting?
It was a good fight though, technical match up that heated up gradually!
Barrera fought a good one... Better than i actually thought he would. However, im still disappointed in Barrera.
Based on what he was actually trying to do on the night, Barrera just wasn't using his tools enough. He was doing good... actaully great things with his left but IMO he almost totally neglected his right when it mattered (ironic, given the nature of the KD).
Plus at times, he thought about things too much, admired his work (and subsequently got hammered) when ever he did something right (in terms of out witting the counter-puncher)....
I dunno, he had the elements there for a winning fight, but just didn't piece it all together the right way.
Im hoping he sees that Marquez was definately beatable that night and sees sense in asking for a rematch. (Although i do understand that a 2nd fight with Pacquaio is somewhere near unresistable now).
With that being said, i knew Marquez would win... but its like "knowing" your gonna fail your driving test and then failing for something really stupid.
You end up with the feeling you'll get it right next time for sure *

I agree about the scores. I had Barrera ahead by one point like Lederman did actually going into the decision, but I also knew that a score that close would almost definitely be awarding the fight to Marquez. Boxing seems to have a way of "robbing" a fighter and then "paying him back" when it comes to unjust decisions. Marquez is a super good fighter that has not been allowed the spotlight as much as many of the other marquee names and was robbed in the Pacquiao fight, so I assumed Barrera had to really close the show and pull out all the stops. For the first few rounds, he did. Then Marquez got him in trouble in the 7th and Barrera got that beautiful knockdown by surprise. Then wtf? Why did he go ahead and slug dude in his head while he was down on all fours? That was really a dumb idea, it cost him a point and then Nady didnt score the knockdown. Even with those penalties, I don't see how the judges scorecards reflected that fight in any way. 118-109 and 111-116 are indicative of how Winky Wright shut out Trinidad years back. I saw this fight as being much, much closer. Judges have been irritating me lately.
