Default Lou Dibully: "Miranda is a Mayorga light"

Tainted Roadkill To Blame?DiBella Blasts Miranda As Mayorga Light!

    Michael Marley
    3/28/2007

If Edison "Pantera" Miranda wants to play rough, then Harvard man and Jermain Taylor promoter Lou DiBella is more than willing to hit low. Miranda's volcanic and venomous spew which the middleweight contender delivered exclusively to Ricardo Lois at www.boxingconfidential.com, had DiBella boiling over Wednesday night.

You get into trash talking with the Ivy Leaguer and former HBO boxing boss, bring your protective cup, son.

"Miranda? Oh, that Miranda," DiBella said haughtily. "He can badmouth Jermain, he can badmouth Cory Spinks and whoever he wants. But facts are facts and Edison is nothing more than (Ricardo) Mayorga Light. This guy must have eaten some tainted roadkill back in Colombia or something.

"For all of Mayorga's insanity, it was spontaneous. This guy does a bad impression of Mayorga. It's all scripted with Miranda. He is always making silly videos. He can say he wouldn't fight a junior middleweight (Spinks) who is a world champion and who is ranked No. 1 by Ring magazine. But he might if was getting a seven figure purse like Jermain Taylor is. Of course, if he did fight Cory, Cory would just dance around him, shut him out for 12 rounds and never get hit on the chin even once. Put Miranda in with the top fighters...with Kessler, with Calzaghe, with Jermain, with Winky (Wright) or Hopkins...every one of those guys would knock Miranda out and just beat him to a pulp," DiBella said.

DiBella's return rant was not done.

"If Allan Green had a little more courage, then Miranda would've lost his last fight. I will grant that he should've got the win over Arthur Abraham and that he should've become the IBF champ and that he should be undefeated. But he's not, he's not and he's not. He talks about knocking people on their ass...now getting knocked on your ass is something Miranda knows about. He's been there. Jermain has never been knocked on his ass."

Finally, DiBella offered some free and immediate career advice for Miranda, who may be facing Top Rank's middleweight title hopeful Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik in the HBO co-feature to Taylor-Spinks (May 19, Memphis).

"I respect the guy and an up-and-coming middleweight, yeah," DiBella said. "But he better focus on Kelly Pavlik and see if he can put Kelly Pavlik on his ass. He better shut up and see if he can beat Pavlik. If he can then maybe we can all make some money with Taylor-Miranda. But, until proven otherwise, Edison is just Mayorga Light"

Ouch. That's enough to make a panther whine like an alley cat. A diet of "tainted roadkill" and Mayorga Light.

I have the feeling Neon Leon Margules better start battling back because he can't let a rival promoter leave his Panther on the verbal ropes. You play the dozens with DiBella and he reverts to his Brooklyn roots.

Yeah this isn't the first time Dibella has referenced Mayorga when talking about Miranda. There are similiarites in their styles, sure, but Miranda is a bit of a better boxer. He is also a bit more chinny than Mayorga was at his natural weight class. Personally, if I were Miranda I'd be very proud to be compared to a three time world champion, and great warrior like Mayorga.

Mayorga was faster though, and was a far better come foreward fighter than Miranda.

Miranda of today is ten times the fighter of the Mayorga of today. The Mayorga of the Forrest era was a damn good fighter who maybe had a level of talent comparable to Miranda, but Edison is a possible Middleweight, and more likely super middleweight kingpin. Dibella can fuck off saying that IMO. Obviously trying to help Taylor dodge Miranda, cos Taylor is clearly shit scared and would get hammered by Miranda.

Yeah Miranda's a better fighter today... But like you say, the Mayorga that beat Forrest was a very good fighter.. IMO, pound for pound, Miranda will never be as good as Mayorga was.. And I don't think a lot of Mayorga even at his best..

Totally know how you feel and I feel it too, even for moments in the Oscar fight, the very first thing Mayorga did in that fight was parry a patented, perfect Oscar De La Hoya jab and counter it with an effective right hand. I know it seems crazy because Mayorga was as crude as they come, but he seemed capable, by fluke, luck or skill of incredible things. With the right guidance he could have been the 2nd Roberto Duran. Instead, he's a gotdamn freak who can fight but is incapable of civil function.

Thats pretty harsh, but mostly true. I love Mayorga, and like I said it is a compliment to be compared to him at his prime. But now he is more of an attraction than a hungry world class fighter like he was. He's like Tyson AFTER Prison. I too thought Mayorga could have been another Duran, but he got robbed against Spinks and moved up in weight where he didn't belong. I love the guy and he's a hell of a warrior, and I still think he can knock out Vargas, but Vargas will most likely be his last big fight, if not last fight period.

That was some funny shit from DiBella and I love it. The best thing about it was him saying Miranda had better worry about Pavlik before he worries about who Taylor is fighting. Miranda needs to focus on his next opponent, Pavlik who, on May 19th, is going to KO him.

Pantera I am fully awake and like I told you on the other board, I will talk with Kelly and ask him to allow you to hug his nuts the way you do Mirandas after Kelly KO's him. So do not worry you will have a spot on the nuts of a guy who can actually fight and has more than just a looping right hand. And since you do not like his website I will see if you can work on his like you have done for Miranda.

Come on now bro. Can you blame Pantera for taking a shot at Kelly's page?
I mean look at this thing!

    Kelly's bio is a .jpg

This is what happens when someone goes from making a Myspace page, to a webpage

    Clueless.

I am on the Miranda express.

Miranda will KO Kelly and Pavlik will be .....

When Edison clocks him the 1st time, Pavlik will fall through his asshole scared like all of Miranda's other opponents..... Taylors scared shitless already, why else is he consecutively defending his Linear Universally recognized MIDDLEWEIGHT Championship against 2 natural WELTERWEIGHTS in a row Cory is a favorite of mine and people can laugh all they want, Cory is slick and can box extremely well, his outlandish entrances and retarded interviews really detract from his skills he is more than capable of potshotting Taylor all nite, since Jermain will be more than likely loading up on his punches and tiring himself out Taylor is notorious for wasting punches and expending to much energy and fading down the stretch..... IF Cory can find a happy medium with putting on the extra weight and have good conditioning he will outpoint Taylor... Spinks is light years ahead Jermain as far as being the better Boxer..

Dibella is a world class douchbag anyway, so who gives a shite with that assclown says As long as he dosent Fuk up Andre Berto's career I'll be happy

Cory Spinks ain't beatin Jermain Taylor. He's a featherfisted little runner, and may in fact be an even bigger bitch than Taylor. I would get a kick out of it though if Spinks went the distance with him and got another gift decision, this time against Taylor. It'd almost be justice. But it ain't gonna happen, Taylor ought to knock Spinks out, granted he is not a southpaw or as quick as Zab Judah, but he hits quite a bit harder, and he will land on Spinks eventually, just like Karmazin did, cept being a big MW that he is, he ought to be put Spinks to sleep when he hits him.
