Even at 38 Roy Jones is still better than anyone Calzaghe has met
Tarver couldnt knock out Roy twice, we all saw the round he had him so stunned and Roy was hurt but he didn't go down and he survived to come back against Tarver in that round too.Originally Posted by skel1983
And he didn't look gunshy against Badi Ajamu, he fought a smart fight for someone his age with not as quick reflexes. Roy seems to be changing his style just a little bit.
But if for a moment you think Joe is going to beat him consider this.
Joe doesn't have the height, reach or power of Antonio Tarver at Light Heavyweight.
Joe doesn't have the heart or chin of Glen Johnson at Light Heavyweight.
Joe is a supper Middleweight and won't be bullying Roy around the ring.
You talk about Joe getting dropped by the likes of Tarver and then Johnson. But what about Joe getting dropped by Mitchell and SalemAnd an old weight drained Eubank(not nearly as fast as Jones at that stage of his career) almost got him in the last round(from what I've read).
Roy is faster then anyone Joe has faced, his harder then anyone Joe has faced and is more elusive then anyone Joe has faced even at this stage of his career. Not to mention Jones is bigger.
Joe is going to get hit more then any other time in his career. I just hope the fight is at some sort of catch weight. Jones barelt made 175 his last time out, I can't see him making 168. 172 or 170 maybe.
Exactly! C.C. But if would put a P4P all time great on Calzaghe's resume. Maybe Jones has one good fight left in him and maybe that's too much risk for Joe?Originally Posted by eagle
Warren should double the Taylor offer and take a piece of that action.
I'd definately go for the catchweight idea 172 sounds good (about half way between Super Middle and Light Heavy)Originally Posted by Majesty
Jones isn't really bigger though, their reaches are almost the same and is slightly shorter than Calzaghe. Let's be realistic though
IF Joe was to go through with this fight they would almost definately have the title on the line. At 168 the weight drain affects Jones more.
Joe throws Flurries and is back outside before he get countered. As was mentioned earlier even 5 years ago this would have been more interesting.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
then Joe C should jump on this....RJJ is still pretty big over in the USA.......RJJ never gives the bigger percent to anybody but himself.....still think RJJ would beat Joe C.....Originally Posted by eagle

Clearly Calzaghe isnt worried about proving anything. It would bother me if I was him...youve got plenty of money not time...get in the ring and show me something, or quit with I'm the best crap. Hes been coddled for too long.
so any more evidence that this is indeed going to come off kids?
It's your call my man.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
The offer still stands.
jones can beat him if he is confiedent and i think jones sees he can beat him thaswhy he wants this fight so much and at 40-60 if calzaghe doesnt take it hes a bitch because ot only is ROY JONES taking the short end of the stickwhen does that happen
but hes willin to go to uk!!!!!! calzaghe needs to take this fight or hes a bitch in my eyes
60/40 of what though?? If thats the case RJJ will be coming over for around say $1.5/$ million is that enough? When he can stay home fighting anyone he wants for that amount?Originally Posted by the phenom
