It's good to improve punching accuracy and timing for when your opponent bobs and weaves and that sort of thing..
It's definetly a little more useful than a speedbag, although I havn't used my double end bag ALL that much because I have very little room but others will be able to give you some specific exercises for it.

Its great for getting used to shifting your shoulders, its great for targetting, its great for hand speed, and the more you drill, the harder it gets

The smaller the better, you can make your own for £5. get 3 metres of elastic rope and a solid rubber ball, drill the ball put the elastic through the ball knot either side loops either end away you go. Terrific little tool.

I love mine, as long as you exercise correct technique on it, they are great for 'hand' speed (I say 'hand' because it call comes down to turning the shoulders and hips properly... you can just throw arm punches at it fast as you like... but you're not developing a thing)

Thats my favorite thing to do at the gym and has helped improve timing. Also good practice for movement and slipping as the bag comes back at you. I like em so much I got one at the apartment as well.
