I heard him in interviews say that he was abnormally tired during the fight, but i never heard him accuse anybody of drugging him.

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard & it besmirtches the greatness of a historical fight.
If George said this...he should be ashamed. There's no way to prove it & it makes him appear to be sorry ass sore loser in regards to this match.
Ree-gotdam-dickulous!
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
I bet this has been taken out of context, Rafeal always does that. Maybe he said he felt drugged or whatever, but this just doesn't sound like Foreman.
Although, I mean he was in Zaire where EVERYONE hated him, but that would be something that doesn't take 33 years to come out.
Yeah...I would think that too. Big George is generally very VERY respectful of Ali & boxing in general.Originally Posted by amat

Here's the quote from his recent book:
That's what the ex-heavyweight champ suggests in his new memoir, "God in My Corner," revealing his trainer gave him a weird-tasting cup of water just before the bout. "I almost spit it out . . . Man, I know this water has medicine in it," Foreman said to his trainer, who denied it was spiked. "I climbed into the ring with that medicinal taste still lingering in my mouth . . . After the third round, I was as tired as if I had fought 15 rounds."

I'm not sure why George would say that now after all these years. Every interview I've ever seen of his, he has always claimed Ali just got the best of him.
He's trying to create some buzz for his new book. I can't think of any other explanation to the weird timing of this "drugged" claim.
That's just weird.
I'm still not sure what context that was in. He could have said that but then came back and said the things he's always said. Quotes like that sell the book you would think. I don't know, I hope to hear some more about this, I'll give George a slide on this one.
Good job and good research, I heard the claim on ESPN'S Pardon the Interuption, not many people believed me so I tried to find it on the net, I will give you a CC in about 60 post.Originally Posted by meowza

Sounds like the quote was edited conveniently for publicity.
I know that George knows inside that he lost fair and square. He's admitted it plenty of times.
He wasn't used to fighting past 2 rounds at that point. It's about as simple as that. And it wasn't the last time we saw George get gassed late into a fight.
My guess is a possible statute of limitations on what could be considered libel (or slander if it was spoken to a biographer). Chris Byrd is under legal obligation to not make reference to his accusation that he was drugged during the first W. Klitschko fight. It still does look bad on Foreman's part to enlighten us 30 years too late, but there could possibly a legal reason for this.

But Foreman would have just not spoke on why he lost the fight then. He's been as open as any boxer is as to about why and how they lost. It would be wierd if he did an about face on that.Originally Posted by MistaDibbs

Don't worry if he was drugged they would have only disqualified him anyway if he had won
Might even have got a ban

I think he just burned out after throwing bombs for 3 rounds.
Strange how it's taken him 30 odd years to pipe up and nothing was mentioned days after.
I remember Forman complained about the food, obviously insiuating that he was suffering form a slight bought of food poisoning but something in his water? Thats just petty.Originally Posted by Evil wacko3205

He suffered a cut during sparring that put the fight back a little.
Surely they would have found something in his Urine post fight if he'd been drugged.
