I'm not sure how these videos disprove anyone who said that Mayweather is more polished than Jones, because Floyd IS more polished than Jones.

Jones was a great fighter, but he wasn't textbook by any means, he did a lot of things that you would never teach a young fighter. He was so talented that he could get away with unorthodox technique.

Floyd is a classically trained boxer. Doesn't mean he's better than Roy was, just that he does things more by the book.

Right i might of got this wrong but i remember Taeth saying that Mayweather was more polished than Jones when they were both starting it out and i tend to disagree Jones was very sharp fast and had loads of power just wanted to show you this video see what you guys thought.

Of course highlight reals look favorable... Watch a lot of Roy's earlier fights, and I will rewatch them to get the names, but there are a lot of times where he had trouble cracking his opponent.

Like I said Mayweather was technically better than Roy when they were younger, and has always been technically better than Roy. Roy didn't use his jab all that much, and he never landed it all that stiff... Floyd easily had the better jab. He also had better defense, sharper punches.

Can i just ask you then because you think its pretty pointless thread what you class as being polished ?? if you read my posts when did i mention that it all has to do with natural ability ?? in these fights Jones looks more of a complete fighter than Mayweather did when they were both starting out more power more speed better reflexes just because he is more unorthdox than Mayweather it doesn't mean he was less polished.

He may of had better jab but he no way had sharper punches than Roy and yes Maybe he did have better defense because but it was different type of defense than Roy but i watched both men and i thought wow when watching Roy i didn't get that when i watched Mayweather when watching them at that point in there careers.

personally when someone uses the word polished, it for me has the meaning, that the the fundamentals of boxing is good, and someone said textbook, which indeed could be used in the same context..

my breakdown of the 2 fighters is as follows

mayweather : textbook perfect, he is POLISHED without a doubt, and way more polished then rjj

rjj : pure raw talent, and so far from textbook, actually jones did what every healthy minded trainer, would tell you not to do, and
further more made it work..!
he of course is also polished, but not in the "mainstream" way you use the word polished..

when i say polished i mean who has more attributes..and floyd has more...but roy was better to watch..floyd was exactly what he was trained to be - a robot super boxer- he knows all the do and don't of punching and defense and the the technical things to counter mistakes...

roy also knew the do's and don't of boxing but used physical talent rather than technical boxing talent to avoid punches and counter...floyd's style was always more and better equipped as a well rounded fighter...floyd is what i would say "technically perfect" with a added modern style to it..

Roy was unworldly and his style was based off his physical gifts rather than tools needed to be a long term fighter...

i would love to have seen what roy would have been had he with all his physical gifts been trained as well rounded as floyd...
