i thought they tended to break themselves apart but also feel that Rickys footwork is such that he does,nt need to hold half as much as he does
His movement (at times) was great and when he starts using his rapid lateral movement he is at his best.
On the whole he was outstanding and remember that NO ONE has ever done that to Castillo.
i just cant see hating on hatton for it and then giving a pass to mayweather.. that was my point.. and hatton's style is still more exciting than mayweather'sOriginally Posted by Missy
grabbing, the body shots, and giving the angles hatton was is called controlling the tempo and dominating every round and is a skillset unto itself... and the tempo is higher than mayweather's"superior footwork"style otherwise known as running..
hitting and not getting hit.. thats how i would teach on winning... using your strengths against your opponents weakness, however style you might need to use...

If you believe that using superior footwork equates to running in regards to Mayweather...your'e just wrong & contradicting yourself. You want to teach hit & not be hit (which is the largest part of boxing) then you use Floyd as an example.
Floyd has been in many MANY action fights...people just tend to let their hate blind them & wipe their memory's clean of Floyd's matches against Castillo, Manfredy, Jukko, Hernandex, Corrales, Chavez, & yes even the Oscar fight.

I thought Rick looked good, very sharpe, fast hands and feet and a welcome return to the body attack that had gone into hiding recently. The holding isnt a big deal for me, as long as the punches are still being shipped I dont care how he manouvres himself into position to do it (against Urango that was OTT, no nead for all that)
Was Castillo shot? No I dont think so, Antwun Echols, now thats shot. Castillo, obviously not the force he used to be was simply outmuscled by a younger fitter stronger man.
The amount of people that have jumped on the Castillo being shot bandwagon is no surprise.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

There was more action in Hatton/Castillo fight than in the whole of the De Le Hoya/Mayweather fight!
As much as I think Mayweathers defensive skills are second to none I much prefer to watch an all action fighter like Ricky Hatton cause he always has me on the edge of my seat.

i love mayweather inside the ropes.. i complement him on being #1 p4p and having the balls to fight DLH again and DLH wouldntOriginally Posted by wacko3205
i use PBF as an example because some people might not like his style, you have to respect it... and its the same 3,4 punch then move or hold that both use and takes the equal amount of skill to use both of their techniqes as well as they do
i think hatton has been in so many action fights that i dont have to mention them and if people you are equating that too holding style its the same if i say mayweather's style is running... isnt it?
i think mayweather has a beautiful style that i usually dont like...
' i just say the running style, cause thats how i feel when people call hattons style holding...

Give Ricky an 8 he is a good Boxer wish he would do that more instead of Muay Thai clinchingbut his handspeed and accuracey just overmatched Castillo from the start... Although Castillo was coming on in the 3rd and 4th.. Hatton really snuffed out the rally with that shot

The Oscar fight ? The only exciting bit in that was the last 3-4 seconds.Originally Posted by wacko3205

I love watching Floyd fight, he's an artist in the ring and I fail to see how any true boxing fan cannot appreciate his skills or his boxing style. The sweet science of boxing is about hitting and avoiding being hit and Floyd is the master, at least in our present era.
Hatton avoids getting hit by grabbing hold of an opponent and not allowing them to throw. There is no skill in that, it's just a rotten way to fight and a style that is rightly hated when anyone other than Hatton does it. To me he's no different to John Ruiz, just with better aggression and more speed.
I'm adittedly a Hatton Fanatic, worship the ground he walks on to be honest, and i loved the fight last Saturday night. It was exactly what i wanted to see...(i had predicted a Ko win around round 10 so i was way off!) But he seemed a little anxious to impress at the start, mayb wasting a little bit of energy. I'm not saying he started to quickly! A fast start was crucial, in order to establish his superior handspeed and (imo) power also. But he jus missed a few against an opponent who isn't exactly notoriously hard to locate. This may be put down to nerves/anxiety, but it was mistakes like that which would have resulted in him tiring in a longer fight. All IMO

I am destroyed that JLC is done.........I give hatton an 8, I absolutely hate his
holding, he's like John Ruiz in fast forward, but I give him credit for executing
his game plan and absolutely dominating the fight.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
