no, I have an athletic physique. I am a ATHLETE. Not a body builder or anything else. I run a 4.4 40, 36 inch vert, ling jumped over 22 feet in highschool. I just train right. I do each excercise for a purpose. Yes, I do my power lifts for total body strength. But I do extra work on my tris for my punchs and to help when I do heavy bench presses. Try for 2 months to do them right, and keep your bag and sparring workout the same, and see how much harder you will hit.

No offence buddy but triceps do fuck all for punching, it's all through the hips (ask Tyson!).

I wasn't being cocky man, I was just being serious. If you lived around here I would defintly just like to spar. But since were so far away its pointless to talk back and forth. Im above that. I'm here to help people and pick up things, not to get in a pissing match with some kid.

Sorry Missy and Andre about this stuff.. Im done posting on this topic. This place is for learning and not for talking trash like 10 year olds.

i think any athlet that can do almost 400 in bench boxes alot takes care of his body alot and knows alot could give anyone a challenge in a sparing match :P

luke, i have no intention to argue but it really is no philosophy, it is the truth. Some people, I guess like you, work mostly on their overall body strength to achieve stronger punches (which is not bad of course), but for example look at Mumammad Ali. It's like, I can see from your avatar that your muscles are quite cut, but his weren't. One thing is that today's athletes are in much better shape then they were but still.

So, I'm saying that you CAN achieve killer punches by doing a lot of weight training, but you can do the same only by doing the NON-weight training exercises. But basically, body movement, speed and technique will be lying on the road to success.
