Default Fantastic Year of Fights - but what do we need in Britain?

Ok, so with Ricky Hatton getting his fight against Floyd Mayweather, Calzaghe going in against Kessler, Haye going in against Mormeck, and Maccarinelli looking likely as though he could fight Steve Cunningham....it's got a fantastic ring to it towards the end of the year.

However, what British match-ups will make it a fantastic year both domestically and internationally?

    Mine would include:
    Derry Matthews v John Simpson
    Kevin Mitchell v Johanneson
    Earl v Khan
any one of the five heavyweights fighting each other...
    Colin Lynes v Gavin Rees?

    Any thoughts?

Rees should not be included in this brit scene anymore..

The guy has his world title now and needs to get right out there.. If he starts fighting brit contenders and bums i'll be so fwocked off..

Sorry BHB, but I just don't think that one win getting him a WBA belt gets him out of the British scene. He fights any quality opposition in the world stage....and he's right back in the british scene.

I ask a serious question and I get this sort of response which really disparages and discredits the whole thread.

If colin Lynes could try and sneek a shot against Rees that would be amazing, cos i acctually think he would beat him. It would be an awesome match up and i think he can take his 'crown' away.

Agreed a great matchup, tough one to call though and Enzo Calzaghe's fighters are so confident at the moment.
Would love to see Lynes win a world title though.

Lynes wont get the Rees fight.

Rees fight on the Calzaghe bill will be against a little Bobby Gunn.

Now that will be so that the winner can fight the winner of Skelton v Williams VII to see who (finally) gets the shot at the world title right...?
As for Rees, it would be cool if he could fight someone decent, but I agree that he'll probably be given a bit of an easy ride as a bit of a party to celebrate his winning the belt.

But surely Lynes deserves a shot at him. British & European champ?

Maybe Lynes vs. Olugusen first to see who deserves Rees.

    Jon Thaxton vs. Amir Khan
    John Simpson vs. Derry Matthews
    Carl Johannson vs. Kevin Mitchell
    John Fewkes vs. Jon Murray

Yeah, THaxton/Khan is the one I'd like to see. I f Khan is careful he should be abe to outpoint him easily. Good test against a tough veteran.
