You "other" Football fans have never been to a NFL game otherwise you would be in awe of the size of these athletes. Put 22 guys on a field at once being on average about 6'0" and 230, running sub 5 second 40 yard dashes. It sounds like a freaking stampede, and those hits on TV arent sound effects.If we didnt have all that padding there would be people getting maimed in every game, they do anyway.

I'm not sure that modern rugby players are anything like the 'tough guy in the pub' ..... an average Second Row forward in rugby is about 6'6" or taller, and these guys are about 19 stone. Some of those Polynesian players are every bit a physical match for NFL players (ie all fantastic athletes).

I met Bryan Habana (the tiny guy on the wing for South Africa that you see as a bit of a weedy guy on TV) and he was FREAKING HUGE in real life. 'Skinny' Joe Rocokoko is 6'3", 16 stone and does the 100 metres in a near-Olympic qualifying time.

I did notice that the NFL players in the clips were not really tacking, they were using themselves as missiles, and really trusting their armour would protect them ..... I suppose that's an inevitable outcome of this making the 2 sports diverge?

I'm 6' 1'', 162 walking round between fights and i'm pretty proud of my explosive power and damn proud of my abilities as a boxer. But about 3 weeks ago i stepped in for a mate to play a little rugby. Now i got on well, even managed to score me some points, but they managed to score on me too. I'm on crutches, broken foot and what the doctor described as a "shredded calf." Those fuckers aren't men they're small trucks.
Give me anyone in the ring, but il think twice before steppin onto a rugby pitch again. Oh and i no that modern rugby players are seen as very gentlemanly, and they are, but when im 6' 1'' and their SCRUM HALF is screaming "kill the little fucker" in my direction, u got a whole new world of resons to respect them.
