Roy only lost 3rd time round because he was afraid to let his hands go imo. Look at Jones-Tarver 3 round 5 when he did let them go he had Tarver hurt twice. Roy would win imo if he let his hands go more but i dont think he will because hes too afraid of getting hit flush on the chin.

Well Tarver should seeing he was refuting Roy's claims of being weight drained and lethargic, then he turns around and did the same aginst Hopkins since he wanted to be a big movie star

We all know Jones was'nt the same after coming back down from heavyweight ... I believe it's the reason he lost to Tarver and Johnson .. Had Jones remained in that weight class , those losses would have never occured.

Tarver was a nobody before Jones , and he's a nobody after Jones ... And he's a nobody now ESPECIALLY after old man Hopkins exposed the crap out of him. I know i seem a little harsh towards Tarver but c'mon man , you KNOW what Jones did in his career , he did'nt suddenly grow a glass jaw and a sense of "being careful".... now some of you will say " yeah but but but Jones fought bums his whole career" FINE the opposition was crappy , except for Hopkins - Toney and a few others .. PERFECT cause Tarver's resume ain't better than Toney's and it sure as h*** ain't better than Hopkins..

Anyway i'm looking foreward to JONES VS TRINIDAD because i feel they we're 2 great fighters who left the ring too quickly (by this i mean there are adjustments that could have been made instead of quitting the ring altogether).

Now on to the question : Tarver vs Jones? No need , Jones would win now , believe that.

Now i know that Jones Vs Hopkins was boring as H*** but i've had this funny feeling recently that Hopkins VS Jones ll would be an awesome fight for some reason! Now THAT i would pay to see!

I think it would be pointless especially since Roy lost the last two and as quiet as it's kept he also lost the first one. I think they both should seriously considering sitting there asses down. By the way Tarver if you happen to read this you stunk in Rocky 6. Have a good day.

No roy should jst retire, he has nothing to prove, he hasnt since he beat ruiz...

he has been a shadow of him self since then, anyone who thinks he needs to beat tarver or johnson is a fool... is respect johnson, he is a warrior, tarver is a bum who got lucky by beating a shot RJJ - if he never done that he would be a nobody...

to say roy needs ot beat tarver to do anythign for his legecy is a joke, tarver would of been fucking emabrssed if he gloved up with roy in his prime simple as that...

you cans lag of roy call him chinny if you want, but who cares, in his prime roy did't need a chin, why? n one could fucking hit him on it.

Roy don;t need glen either, i respect glen but again prime roy whoops him.

So im a fool ?? all im saying is that beating Tarver and Johnson would add alot to his legacy like if Lewis wouldn't of revenged his defeats to McCall and Rahman he wouldn't have been rated as high as he is today Roy looked good in his last fight where as Tarver just about won sd against a journeyman if Roy feels like he has enough in the tank to do it then why not ??

I agree....IMO Jones has been that way since the KO losses....Even though he bead Ajamu and Hanshaw he was not the Roy of old who would have been trying to put on a show...He throws in spurts here and there but nothing impressive....It is not stamina....It has to be nerves...

Good post, I always appreciate another RJJ fan.

The only thing that didn't fit was the statement I highlighted. I was at the post fight interview after the Hanshaw fight and RJJ himself said he's not done until he takes care of unfinished business like Tarver, Johnson and Trinidad.

Being such a huge fan of RJJ myself, I have to look at it this way to make me feel better when it comes to Tarver:
It's 2-2 in my opinion. RJJ beat Tarver in the amateurs and once professionally. Tarver won the last two professional fights. One more would make it the best of five and it can be laid to rest.

I dislike Tarver immensely and that's why I'll only remember him as the person who threw the luckiest punch in boxing history.

Let Roy Jones defeat Tito first. If he can't stand against a tito who is up for retirement then he might as well retire for good. If he wins over Tito, then he can proceed with TArver.
