knew this was a bad idea as soon as I saw it announced

why do these film companies do it. You don't remake old films that were crap - only classic old films are remade which is why you have your work cut out from the start

Decent remakes are few and far between

In fact I am trying to think of one now while I write this..... uhhhh ?? uhhhhh ?

The Fly ? - although the story was totally different really in the remake

    King Kong ?

    any others ?

    Erm...the Island of Dr Moreau?

    Oceans 11?

Remakes are generally crap. I read somewhere on the web that an idea was bounded about to remake Jaws. I mean...WTF!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?

Sequals also get on my tits a bit. Indy 4 is being made as we speak.

some sequels are ok - others excellent ie Godfather II, Bourne Ultimatum, Rocky II and Balboa, Spiderman II

But yes a lot are poor and depend onthe audience just goingback to revisit the characters - it works sometimes !

Anyone seen the remake of Rollerball ??

Now that is a bag of shit

There is a remake of rollerball? I never knew that. The original is a fugging classic. What was James Caan's name in it? Jonothan A or something like that.

Bourne Ulitmatum is supposed to be the nuts. Apparently some great fight sequences in it. Ive spoke to a couple of people that don't rate it as much as the first two though simply because its too 'breakneck' and relentless action. Plus they have turned bourne into a bit of a 'superman' indestructable type.

    In some ways bondified him.

Haven't seen it so can't comment. Ive got the two disc box set though and will be going to see it soon.

I'm just about to settle down and watch Wrong Turn 2 in a minute, the first was a mutant hillbilly classic. Looking forward to it, I'll tell you if it;s any good in a couple hours.

I won't see it, i refuse to. I think they said it was getting remade by zombie or tarentino . They wanna make an over the top film with a plot that doesn't make any sense, go for it but don't go NEAR halloween. I was all excited over the past two and a half years because i thought they were making a followup to resurrection (not the best but it had some funny parts). Now i find out they're taking a classic and probably adding the eli roth "style" to it.

I hope they're not taking the "morale killing" style away. Everytime somebody did something wrong (and i'm talking like 1950's wrong) you just knew they were gonna be axed at some point for either trying to get laid or underage drinking. The whole series in a nutshell is basically about karma and a strong disliking for ones family.

I also saw that a black guy dies in this movie which ruins one of the halloween series ongoing rarities. Everyone here has heard the old joke that the black guy always dies first in a horror film right? Well there weren't any black guys killed by michael myers until just recently in ressurection (LL cool J should've died in h20 because he got shot in the head 6 times from point blank range but he was the guest star to help promote the movie so obviously he had to make it). If you don't believe me look back and watch 1 all the way up thru h20 (skipping 3 of course ). It wasn't raciallu discriminating casting, just a move that was the exception rather than the norm in most horror films.

And what the hell is up with the orange mask? He never wore an orange mask at any point. He was completely maskless in the asylum until he broke out wearing a sheet over his head and from ther ehe jacked a white mask from a store (on a couple different occasions as it has been burned and what not).Highly upset with this, I hope whoever made it looses money on it.

Bilbo, what was wrong turn 2 like? Did they still get their entire cast from the isle of wight or did they venture further afield this time for the inbreds...essex?

Just finished watching it now. I really enjoyed it, the first 20 minutes or so are the usual cliches for the genre, a handful of young fit good looking people, fit women who are all pretty much unlikable, an a** clown of a white boy and a decent likeble black fella.

But once it gets going it's pretty entertaining. It seems to be an entirely different family of hill billies this time, they are younger and they breed

The executions are all awesome, over the top gory but in a comedic way, not just plain morally bankrupt sick S*** that Eli Roth classes as 'entertainment', these deaths are all just wonderfully over the top and humourous.

I really enjoyed it, at a push I'd say the second half of this film is better than the second half of the first one, much more gore, more deaths, plus a bad a** ex marine who's hunting the hill billies

    Worth watching. 7.5/10

....PSYCHO is Hitchcock's best...the remake of that is utter crap as most remakes are.

If you're going to remake something, remake an average movie not a GREAT MOVIE.
