    Default Barry Sanders Pro Highlights

Lyle college football thread had Barry Sanders in it. The greatest running back to ever play pro football. I shed tears watching this video.

Greatest Eh he's up there but I don't consider him THE GREATEST.....Jim Brown is up there, Walter Payton and Emmit Smith are there as well and if this guy didn't get injured he would have been one of the best as well

I'm no Lions fan by far.
But IMO Barry is the greatest RB ever to step on the field.
The way his body contorted (not sure if it's a word or not ) was amazing.
Hands down the most skilled RB ever, Brown was a straight forward, muscle your way thru. Great yes but IMO not the greatest.
'Sweetness' was great wow! I mean he was the truth.
Smith was brain + skill but IMO he falls a little short.

Barry IMO had it all and what I think makes him greater is that HE didn't have a great team around him and he still became great and he still did amazing things and he still broke records.
Brown, Smith, Payton all played with SuperBowl wining teams, Barry played for the fwocken Lions and he cared about his team and not about records or himself.
I like you Silverback my throat runs dry thinking he could have given us at least 2 maybe 3 more good seasons.

After Barry left the game it took Emmitt Smith a season or so to catch him in all-time yardage. Barry would have crushed Walter Peyton's record long before Smith got around to it.

    Barry @ retirement - 15,269 rushing yards

Walter Payton's mark -16,726 rushing yards.

Payton amassed his total in 13 seasons, while Smith did so in 15 (and surpassed Payton in his 13th season), while Sanders only played for 10.

Back then I heard it was over The Lions not letting him out of his contract so he could play for a team that actually has a snowball's chance of winning a Superbowl.
