I think an interim title is good in that it provides a little clarity in certain confusing situations.

Its worse to have the top guys inactive and not attempting to prove themselves. Realistically they have little meaning, but they may give some of the hungrier fighters an incentive to fight. Peter being one of the hungrier fighters.

Would have made sense to just strip Maskaev to be honest. I would imagine at some point this will be the chain of events...

Peter will beat McCline and defend his interim title at least once more before Maskaev is ordered to fight Peter.

Maskaev will pull out injured and Peter will be installed as full WBC Champion.

Peter will then be told to face Vitali Klitschko who will once again pull out "injured" from a fight.

Maskaev will be installed as WBC interim Champion emeritus as Vitali will still keep his title.

McCall will fight in his 5th final elimanator before finally getting a shot.

See? These things always clear themselves up!

    Hmm....tis all clear now.
But pray tell, where does Johnny Ruiz step in and blow everyone away with his new fleetfooted Ali-esque style?

Heh. In all fairness I'm pretty sure American viewers - and therefore American TV as well - prefer undefeated Americans to undefeated Danes (or any other "Euro-fighter"). Hence the comment...

Well I'm sure it goes the same for Euro-TV.....hence MY comment.

People get hyped about any fighters from their area even the media....well especially the media since it is their job to let people know they should see this guy fight and to do it they need to sell tickets and get people to watch on TV.

The people that buy it are the ones that feel ripped off after....and they build resentment towards fighters and the sport as a whole.

FYI, Donnell Holmes drew with Earl Ladson, a guy from right near my hometown.....and he's a big guy but he's no world beater...his record is 12 (7 KO's)-16 (KO'd 5 times)

Anyone remember Stacy Goodson?? He lost to Donnell Holmes...not boasting I was just surprised he was on Holmes' record.

Well, the WBC has finally done something with reason. Maskaev has shameless ducked Peter for close to a year; fuck that son of a bitch and his whining.

Is it fair to say Maskaev ducked Peter? The whole champion emeritus thing wasn't his doing. Okay, he could have fought Peter instead of Okhello, but the guy wanted a softie first. Can't blame the dude for wanting to hang onto his title for a bit.

I see no problem with the interim championship going to Peter, though. He's been put through the ringer by the WBC and it's about time they do something that favors him. If Maskaev has such a problem with it he can easily set a date and kick some Nigerian booty to declare the title is still his.

just seen the weight in on the Peter Mcline match .. Peter weighed in at 250, seems high on paper , however he came in ripped, looked proper . I think Mcline is in big troubles.. look for an early sparking.

U reckon? Id say if Ruiz is serious about making a career revival he's gotta get big names quick.
Well I guess your right cause Ruiz just signed to fight Sergui Liakovich on Oct. 13.
