Except Nate was arrested for armed robbery...

well david is also a champ. i think its a good way to test the waters at lightweight. remember when pac went up to super featherweight he ran straight to morales and we know what happened there.
Belt's don't mean shit anymore. David in reality is the like the 6th best Lightweight out there. If Pac wants to really test the waters at Lightweight, than let him face Nate Campbell
urrrmmm, nate who? the one who was stopped by robbie peden twice? now why would anyone want to see that?

With respect to David Diaz, its almost a "Bully move" By pacs team.good to for them to recongnize he needs to move up.This is very calculated as now we get the comparisons on Diaz fights Vs.Morales & pac Promo galore.
What does a coyote do...circle the herd and pick off the weakest stragler!
Or You can call it..A "Bitch Move"

wow peeps are getting to quick to critize pac, for getting a tune up at 135 before he goes and fight the real deals. give the guy a break, his been moving up in weights and fighting the best directly let him have a tune up this time first at 135. And how in the world is pac running from jmm? its jmm's team that does not get the fact that you have to settle for what they offer you because even though you got abc title your not calling any shots becuase you won't put majority of the fans on the seats. Why can't jmm do what pac did in the first fight with mab and the first and second fight with eric, pac settle for less just to show he will beat them. How can anybody say pac is scared, didn't he even say he'd stay at 130 for valero and if jmm's team would finaly settle for what they are offered. it isn't pac thats not cooperating, his already made his pretty much just waiting for jmm to settle then the fight will be on no questions asked.

David Diaz would be a tune up, after that pac would get anybody up there. Is it a sin to have a tune up first?

I think you guys underestimate David Diaz. Sure he's not a great champion but he's naturally bigger than Pacquiao, holds a real belt, something Pacquiao hasn't done in a while and just beat Mexican legend and three time Pacman rival Erik Morales.

Plus he's got a naturally come forward slugger brawling never give up style that would make for an incredibly entertaining fight.

Sure Pacquaio might be dodging Marquez but stylistically Marquez is bad for Pac. I think Marquez beats Pacquaio with relative ease next time around and maybe Pacman and his team feel the same.

If he fights Marquez there's a chance that Marquez boxes and controls the fight, at least with Diaz Pac knows he's going to come forward and slug it out.

Quite honestly those are the kind of fights I want to see Pacquaio in.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

It's one thing to move up to lightweight.

It's another thing to move up to lightweight and challenge a guy who could barely outpoint the corpse of Erik Morales.

I'm not saying he has to fight Casamayor in his first fight at 135, because that's a tough assignment. But as you pointed out, there are worthy opponents between Casamayor and David Diaz.

For a first fight at the weight David Diaz represents a tough test. And after beating Erik Morales he's no longer the sixth best lightweight, he's ahead of Katsidis and Julio Diaz and Nate Campbell. Who have they beat?

pac was having a hard time losing weight. ex. mab at 130 during the weigh in then 138 at fight night pac was 144!

he lost back then because of the same issue, the only difference is that he forced himself to fight on that lower weight class.

when moving up aint it common sense to take a slighty easy opponent first just to test the waters or atleast get a feel at 135?

jmm had his chance to have a rematch with pac but instead fought for loose change. same thing is happening now, jmm is the one ducking pac not the other way around! heck he went down three times in the first round, yeah he recovered but was only able to get a draw out of it if it wasnt for a judges mistake in scoring.

This is dissapointing but I'm not gonna start calling Manny a ducker. This is a guy who fought JMM when he didn't have too, a lot of fighters would have said what has JMM done, who is he, he doesn't even have a big win. And JMM's the one who didn't take the rematch, well more Nacho than JMM but still Manny was willing to take the fight. As long as he follows it up by fighting one of the top guys at 135 its allright with me.

Gotta agree that a tune-up is always a good idea when moving up. Those few extra pounds make a world of difference - besides, every fight doesn't have to be a superfight! It's when fighters consistently dodge the bigger fights that sucks. David Diaz would be a great measuring stick for future success at 135.

I still wanna see the JMM rematch. Sounds like neither side is really wanting it, though.

To me this is a fight that woul;d make sense both in selling tickets and in interest for boxing fans. PAcquiao is a legend in the making stepping up to a weight he's more comfortable with as he gets older, and Diaz is big and strong, and has come off a good, but close, win over Morales.

Pcquiao would clearly be a huge favourite, possibly looking at the fight as a step to better things in the division, but Diaz could give him a workout, and cause him a problem or two with his power.

Well that would be the end of the Lightweight Diaz domination anyway
