Here is what Oscar said about the fight being made:

De la Hoya rejected claims that Marquez cannot draw saying that it depends on whom you are fighting. He cited the example of his fight with Felix Sturm, whom nobody really knew and did only 400,000 homes on pay-per-view. But when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., he did 2.4 million homes, which was the biggest event in boxing history. “It depends who you fight and it depends on your opponent.”

De la Hoya was certain that a Pacquiao-Marquez fight “will draw big numbers because Marquez is the only Mexican still standing to try and get revenge against Pacquiao so that’s a very interesting story.” He said you have to remember that their first meeting was “an outstanding fight and I believe that if Marquez wins [against Juarez] that’s the fight that should happen.”

    Hi El Gamo,

    Thanks for the welcome.

I agree with what Oscar De la Hoya said that the JMM-Pac fight will draw huge PPV numbers. The fight will be a huge draw. I don't think anyone would contest that. And this is why JMM will probably get his BIGGEST paycheck for his entire boxing career fighting Pac (even bigger than the amount he got for fighting MAB).

But Golden Boy Vice president Eric Gomez also admittted this:

Gomez said that “in Pacquiao’s defense he is the star right now. The No.1 guy in the division. He’s the draw.” But Gomez emphasized that “in boxing there is always a way to work things out. I am confident since we had a very good promotion with Top Rank, everything went smooth, I think that if we go and do a Marquez fight I am sure Richard (Schaefer) and Bob (Arum) can work things out and make something that is going to be a positive, good show for everybody.”

Since Pac is the draw, I believe Golden Boy realizes that Pac deserves the bigger prize share. Of course, it is understandable that they will try to get as much moolah as they can get for their boy JMM.

Have a cc on me for the informative info. You make some valid points and could be right. I just want to see this fight made. The only thing that slightly demeans your point about Manny getting the lion's share of the purse is that MAB and Manny both recieved $2million,although some reports on boxingscene. com indicate that MAB recieved $3million! Now he was coming off a loss,to JMM and had lost to Manny before. This fight would have alot more hype around it.

However, you have made some very valid points,so I admit, that Manny may very well deserve a larger split. Good points bro.
