Taylor looked at his best in the last fight. It was a superb fight and I'd love to see the rematch. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility to see Taylor win either. Pavlik is special, but Taylor knows he can hurt him. If he picks his punches and keeps his hands up, he could outbox Kelly. I had Taylor winning by 3 points (2 rounds & a knockdown) when he was KO'ed. I enjoyed the fight, and I'd be happy to see a return, although I'm slightly disappointed because I wanted to see Pavlik-Duddy. Hopefully that'll happen somewhere down the line.

And it wasn't just the judges who had Taylor ahead going into the seventh; several ringside observers had him leading as well. I had it 3-3 with Taylor up a point due to the knockdown. The key for Taylor will be not to load up on his punches so much...that is why he runs out of stamina. When he boxed Kelly he was winning the fight. If he commits to that this go round, he could absolutely win. Anyone counting him out is just plain wrong.
That and he's the most nervous fighter in boxing probably, and I don't see how that's gonna change. He's always gonna have stamina problems and just as important versus a guy like Pavlik, he's got serious defensive problems, Pavlik really didn't have much of a problem at all landing his jab which really surprised me and the right hands just kept on adding up.

And even if some people and the judges had Taylor up its pretty clear, at least IMO that Pavlik was coming on and starting to take over the fight. I'm not saying Taylor has no chance, he can hurt Kelly, some of that was Kelly's own fault but not all of it. But I do have a hard time seeing him winning a decision cause of his defense and stamina going along with Pavlik's workrate.

Wait a second, did I just Taylor probably couldn't win a decision. Taylor could probably pull a Morrade Hakkar and he'd still get the decision.

There is a story about the rematch on espn where they also mention a match between paul williams and kermit cintron... HBO already has two major fights in the works for the month, a Feb. 2 welterweight unification match between Paul Williams and Kermit Cintron and a probable Feb. 23 heavyweight title defense by Wladimir Klitschko...the rest at espn.com

YOUNGSTOWN — Move over John Duddy, it looks like Jermain Taylor wants another shot at Youngstown's Kelly Pavlik.

Taylor, who lost his middleweight title to Pavlik last month, told Top Rank Boxing on Monday he plans to exercise his rematch clause with Pavlik, setting up a possible February non-title fight between the two at the catch weight of 166.

"He informed Top Rank," said Pavlik's manager, Cameron Dunkin. "There's nothing done yet, though. They could change their mind tomorrow and we'd be back right where we are."

Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) had been tentatively scheduled to fight Duddy on Jan. 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the same venue that held the first Pavlik-Taylor fight.

But Taylor's decision changes things. Taylor (27-1, 17 KOs) had secured an rematch clause in the contract before the first fight and repeatedly said he planned to use it.

Dunkin said a Taylor fight would probably take place in February.

By triggering the clause, he's guaranteed to be Pavlik's first opponent. He had until Oct. 29 to activate the clause.

Taylor lost his WBO and WBC titles to Pavlik when he was knocked out in the seventh round. One big question surrounding Taylor will likely be his choice of trainer. He reportedly is considering dumping legendary trainer Emanuel Steward, who has trained him the last four fights. Taylor has not looked impressive under Steward and may seek a change.

Pavlik wins inside five, Jermaine will be gun shy and Pavlik will tuck his chin and fire away with the one- two.

What are the chances of Pavlik-Hopkins happening ? His camp should try to make that fight.

Pavlik and Hopkins are virtually from different eras i really don't want to see it. In fact i don't want to see Hopkins at all anymore. Enough is enough

I think Hopkins would see this as a good challenge. As in "Kelly Pavlik is one of the most exciting and explosive fighters of recent times, how can I make a fight with him boring?"

Knowing Bernard, he'll do his darnest to find a way.

Hop lokked old in his last fight, plenty of people have argued this point with me but they've failed to change my mind, he looked old and won the fight on expieriene, skill and wit alone, his body has greatly aged and it's time for him to retire.

A fight with Hopkins for Pavlik makes as much sense as Holyfield/Ibragimov. If Kelly wins everyone on the planet will just say he beat up a geriatric geezer and it won't mean a thing; just like Sultan got no credit for Holyfield. Lots of other fights for Kelly to make and take other than Hopkins, who's IMO boring these days and just wants more money. A no winner for Kelly whether he wins or not, except I would imagine good money. I'd still watch it though

If Taylor can recover mentally from that brutal KO (HUGE IF). I'd pick him to KO Pavlik in the rematch. Remember it will be at 166 so Taylor should'nt gas out and he might be stronger in that weight.

But I am not sure Taylor can recover. It would be better if he gets a tune up first.

Yeah, big if. He could k.o. Pavlik, but don't forget Pavlik will probably be alot stronger to with the added weight. Another good fight hopefully.

I belive Steward's traning made Jermain soft. I remember under pat burns, jermain would fight 12 rounds without breaking a sweat. Burns camp was all buisiness, and burns was there 24/7 with no HBO obligations. The right move is going to Pat Burns. Under Burns Jermain would be the fighter he used to be. The fighter that most of you obviously havent seen.
