This is purely a hunch and I can't tell for sure, but something in your above post has lead me to detect a hint of sarcasm. I'll examine the evidence further.

    Just a little sarcasm

Poor Dunne, dropped by the Media as quickly as Martinez dropped him...
And even more crushing Duddy and Lee were right there waiting to take his place...

Not all disappointing performances but i believe there stock has gone well down.
I disagree with most of these to be honest. Very few rated Cintron at the start of the year as anything beyond a puncher. If anything his stock was rising until his fight with Feliciano now he's just back where he was at the start of the year certainly no worse.

Castillo's stock hasn't dropped in a legacy defining sense, he just got old and has had too many wars. Nobody denies he was still a great great fighter and borderline hall of fame possibility.

Vargas has just shown us that he has nothing left, his overall legacy as a fighter wasn't dependant on the Mayorga fight he's just finished that's all.

Zab Judah started the year as one of the most maligned and ridiculed fighters in boxing. His loss to Cotto if anything raised his stock slightly as it showed his chin and heart wern't as weak as is often suggested.

Sam Peter I guess you could say got exposed kind of after having been caught by McCline, but he weathered the storm and came back to win which few fighters so in that situation so he's still the best heavy without a belt for me.

Miranda's HBO hype bubble was certainly burst though, agree with that one.

As for Mora I think only myself and Danny G ever rated him anyway so a draw after a year's layoff probably didn't change many people's minds one way or the other.

For myself the biggest losers are as follows.

Jermain Taylor, one poor showing after another then to get knocked out, his name is mud prerry much now.

Joel Casamayor, From being the ultra avoided Ring Champ and undisputedly The Man at lightweight, he's now become an old sluggish weary fighter whose about as exciting to watch as Zahir Raheem and who hung onto his belt only thanks to one of the worst judging decisions in recent history.

Acelino Freitas, not because he lost to Juan Diaz, no disgrace in that but quitting on his stool for the second time in his career will be a stain on his legacy forever. He'll forever be known as a quitter.

Jorge Arce. So popular and exciting to watch but we've learned in his last two fights that he's not nearly the best super flyweight in the world and is never going to be the unifying champion HBO made him out to be.

Darchinyan, same as Arce his chin looks weak, his defense poor and now he's playing catchup to guys like Donaire, Mijares, Naito etc.
Very good post, which I agree with almost totally. Although it should be noted about Miranda that his stock IMO really took off after beating Allan Green in March.

Which lead me to include Allan Green as a possible candidate as well. Not so much because he lost to Miranda, but because he actually looked afraid in there.

Noone dropped as much in 2007 as Lacy in 2006, but a few other candidates for the 'title' could be (not in particular order, except from from HW and down):

    - James Toney: Started the year by rematching Peter, ends it by being completely irrelevant to the division. Peter could be mentioned, but he did defeat McCline in the end.
    - Shannon Briggs: From world champ to irrelevant (sort of)
    - Valuev: Not out of the picture and with an eliminator lined up, but that record was what made him interesting.
    - O Neill Bell: From Ring champ to 'Where does he fit in the picture?'
    - Virgil Hill: At the end of his career, but surely a honourable mention for a (Regular) World champ who loses both fights of the year - to fighters with a combined age of 80 years.
    - Jermain Taylor: Came into the year undefeated MW/HBO-king, but essentially lost twice in two fights. Sure he has had controversial wins before, but those were against Hopkins - who at 160 is quite a different story than Cory Spinks.
    - Kassim Ouma: Did ok against Taylor in Dec06 - then fights once in 07 and loses. To Saul Roman.
    - Antonio Margarito: Went from being 'first contender' and (supposedly) "ducked by Floyd" to being one of many in a deep division.
    - Joel Casamayor: Bilbo already explained brilliantly.
    - Acelino Freitas: Same as above.
    - Bernard Dunne: Not exactly looking like the future of the division.
    - Arce: Exposed.
    - Vic: Exposed.

Good one. De Leon turned him into Bumtista
I dont no how you can call him a bum because he lost his first title fight? De Leon is an animal and Rey B got in with him at the wrong time, he needed more experience and i would favour De Leon to knock most people out in his weight class. To call him a bum is narrow minded, hes young and learning his trade. He will be a champion one day, but as i said at the time taking this fight was the wrong thing to do. Hes fighting this week so we will see how he gets on.

I believe if Barrera loses another one his stock will go down. Definatly mirandas has gone down, but in saying that i still believe he can be a major force in his class.
