The way his career stands right now, would you vote him into the Hall of Fame?

yes
he was very dominant and he had a entertaining fight with lennox lewis
Nah not quite in my eyes, having an entertaining close fight with a Atg doesnt mean getting in the Hall of fame. Shame for Vitali without the injuries id say hed be an almost dead cert as would of ruled the division for many years post Lewis.
No, definately not imo.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
I was big on Vitali and thought he was the one to beat Lennox.
Sadly I think his career falls short of Canastota.
His best wins were Hide, Hoffman? and Sanders?
Hardly a hall of fame opposition.
Absolutely not. Not even close. His only world class opposition was Lewis, and though he fought a great fight, he didn't win. The rest of his opponents were, as Mick says, not even close to HOF caliber. If he had remained injury-free and dominated the division for the past decade, then you could give him a pass for the sorry state of the division. But given that he was only around for a few years, he's just not going to be remembered in boxing history.
His best wins are.
Obed Sullivan
Vaughn Bean
Orlin Norris
Herbie Hide
Ross Puritty
Larry Donald
Danny Williams
Corrie Sanders
Kirk Johnson
Only few names really stand out others are mediocre. No way should he be in Hall Of Fame not even close.
Not yet (unfortunately)
Absolutely not.
He lost the only really big fight of his life to an out-of-shape Lennox Lewis, and his biggest win was over a guy (Corrie Sanders) whose training regimen consisted of playing golf.
Is this a joke?
Seriously he never even won a world title, it got given to him after Lewis retired and he didn't even defend it.
How can a guy who was never even a legitimate world champ be considered for the hall of fame?
Edit, I stand corrected. He made one defense..........against Danny Williams.
If he goes in the hall of fame for that then I guess we need to put Audley in as he did a much better demolition job than Vitaly![]()
vitali was NEVER beaten, he only has losses from injuries, both of them were fights in which he was ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage, vitali should be in the hall of fame
I would say no but hey Barry mcguigan got in
Let's just put this into perspective. Imagine if Jermain Taylor had got up from the knockdown to Kelly Pavlik and that in the next round opened a bad cut on Pavliks eye and the fight was stopped giving Jermain the ring.Originally Posted by SalTheButcher
Now imagine Pavlik retired after this. Would he be in the hall of fame? Hell no, he hasn't even won anything yet.
It's the same with Vitaly, he picked up a vacant belt which he defended against Danny Williams, AND THAT'S IT!
What else did he do? Wow he was ahead by two rounds against Lennox Lewis before being stopped on cuts. Whoopdy doo![]()

It is good to know that at times like these, the JFAT Alliance can still stand strong against the rabid Klitheads.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Lennox would have stopped him in a couple more rounds he was cut in a bad way and they were by punches. Also he quit with a shoulder injury against Byrd he could have shown guts and heart by carrying on and winning.Danny williams did against Potter many of fighter have gone through the pain barrier and injury to win he would'nt push himself.
