What do you consider a "legit world champ"? A guy who has one of the big three (or four) belts at each weight or a guy who's considered the "man" at his division, for example Mayweather at 147, Pavlik at 160, Calz at 168, etc.?Originally Posted by gudnite vienna

We create the most exciting sports events in the world and people tune in and thats a fact. Maybe thats because our sports dont just beat everyone in america alone and then consider themselves world champions...but maybe im digressing...
WOuldnt suprise me that the PPV figures were huge. ONe of my old uni mates is an Indian lass with absolutely zero interest in sport and she sent me an email saying that she ordered the fight hoping that Hatton would win ! Lol I didnt even expect her to know who Hatton or Mayweather was.
Sky is in 6 million house holds, 1.2 mil is 20%, it's feasible and extremely impressive.Originally Posted by prometheus781

theres a big difference in price tho
in the UK the cost was like 15 pounds, in the US it was like 50 USD and for the HD i THINK it was like 60 USD
Especially when you consider the majority of people only have sky for the sports channels.Originally Posted by 'Big' (Yoits)Dan McCarthy
CC..thats what I've been saying. floyd acts like he's the draw and he's the money maker so everyone should do it his way. He fought DLH and Hatton, both mainstream draws and that is the reason he made money. He says Ricky should be happy he gave him a chance when in reality, he should be kissing Rickys ess for giving him an opportunity to make money like that instead of fighting in half empty arenas with people walking out halfway through the fight like in the Baldo fight.

Very true. Mayweather helped the fight this in the States for sure, but in Britain,I don't know many people that knew of him and had seen him before the fight. It was more,"It's Ricky's Toughest fight" etc rather than "It;s a chance to see P4P number Floyd". So all the talk of him helping Hatton was a bit premature, they BOTH helped each other!Originally Posted by Bx730NY

Honestly I really take most of these numbers with a HUGE grain of salt. There is no way in hell 1 billion people sat down and watched the Arsenal Man Utd game no matter what the figures say.Originally Posted by prometheus781
I live in the UK and I didn't watch the game. I also know for certain that my brother, mum, dad, gran, niece, 3 nephews, my brothers girlfriend etc didn't watch it either.
Who the hell invents these stupid figures I have no idea but they are just dumb. 1 in 6 of EVERY person in the world watched the Arsenal Man Utd game
Come on let's be serious for a minute. Probably 3 out 6 people in the world don't even have access to a television set so they have to be discounted.
A third will be children and at least 80% of them can be discounted. Factor in all the elderly, females, people working, not interested in football etc there is no way possible that a sixth of the world's population watched that match.
We could quite easily do a test here.
As this is an all male sporting based forum for people in the Western world with internet and tv access for these figures to be correct I would guess about 90% of our forum members must have watched this match.
Well let's see how many actually watched it? I would bet no more than 1 in 20 of all the people who are registered members here watched the Man Utd Aresnal game and yet the people here are those MOST likely to watch it.
The viewing figures are just plain made up imo.
Hatton is loved by his fans and he will have a following to the end of his career no matter what happens.
I think if it wasn't already going to happen this pretty much set Hatton-DLH in stone. Not a good match up by any means, but the cash draw is will be amazing.
I bet for every 1 ppv mayweather sold hatton was responsible for 50 of them
