Default How comes in other sports, the best are forced the face the best

but in boxing, that's no always the case? I mean this year was SENSATIONAL for boxing, but I'm thinking back to last year and there were not that many great fights and certainly none I remember where it was the best v the best.Whereas in something like tennis,no-one is going to say,ok I'm not going to play against Federer. Or we wouldn't see Federer saying I want this much $$$ or I won't face so and so(just an example, best one I coulf think of). Thoughts? Why does it only happen in boxing?Or does it?

there's been a definite improvement in boxing over the last few years - major match ups have been made. Golden Boy is also very good for the sport I think.

I reckon boxong has realised that if there is a mtch up that needs to be be made for the fans and the sport then it will be

The best are fighting the best now i thought? I mean Calzaghe/Kessler was huge. Cotto/Mosely was huge. We have Wlad fighting Sultan. Pavlik/Taylor. Williams and Margarito are going to have good fights.

We just had a fight with two ring champions and like 80 some wins and no defeats among them.

Valuev is fighting Lyakhovich. Pac Man will be fighting RMM hopefully. And I still think the Katsidis/Juan fight will happen this year. Honestly I don't see many Sven Otke's hiding in the countryside really. Your all's boy over in Asia got his ass knocked off in his phony reign. Enzo and Froch aren't fooling anyone. What fights do you want? (Besides Cotto/Mayweather)

I don't know how it goes outside of the states, although i assume it's the same type of deal..

In TEAM sports, you're part of a league, whether it's NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA etc.. and you have businessmen who head those leagues.. their job is to create the schedule for the upcoming season.. In the NFL there is a formula where let's say if you finished first in your division, the next season you play every other team who finished first in their division (the previous year) and then it's just matchmaking by divisions from there.. But the point is that you have businessmen creating these schedules to put on the best show week by week..

In boxing it's completely different, which is why it's hard to even compare it with team sports.. Each boxer has a manager, promoter etc.. It's divided by weight classes, and anyone from any country can fight anyone from another country so long as the contract is signed.. It's not like you have a structure or set schedule or any obligation to fight anyone besides the "mandatory contender" rule which that is even avoided at times.. Boxing is a completely different machine because there is not set schedule, and you're dealing with one fighter, not a whole team.. and unfortunately it is mostly up to THAT fighter(and his management) to make the decision on who he fights, not a group of people/promoters making them fight the best.
