....Wladimir sparked out Ray Austin who fought Sultan Ibragimov to a draw, he TKO'd Chris Byrd with ease, he stopped the previously unstopped Lamon Brewster, he beat the previously undefeated Calvin Brock, and he whipped Sam Peter.

Rob Lewis....you seem to forget how dominant Wladimir can be and how uninspiring Povetkin looked vs Chambers.....someone who is closer to his own size.

If Povetkin can get the fight into the championship rounds,he may have a chance. Wlad fights in spurts and has had stmaina problems in the past,theose stamina problems don't just disappear overnight. I'll favour Wlad based on experience and power,but if Povetkin can overcome the early barrage,he could win on points late.

Wlad has been beaten 2 ways and I don't see Povetkin doing either one of those.

Purrity and Brewster beat him by Wladimir just gassing out and running out of steam

Sanders just jumped on him early and had the power to put him down numerous times

If you think the Povetkin that fought Chambers has a chance of doing either of those you're a kinder critic than myself

You make legitimate point for sure and I'd have Wlad as a huge favourite,but it's not in the realm of the impossible that Povetkin takes Wlad's early barrage,survives to the end,fighting 3 minutes of every round and grinds out a points win. As I already said though,it's a huge ask for Povetkin.

....Wlad doesn't throw an "early barrage" he uses the jab (which might swell up Povetkin pretty bad considering his last performance) and then he starts dropping the right cross and he doesn't get that blocked often.....he also clears the guard out of the way with the jab before throwing the right cross.

Povetkin has no defense for what Wladimir does better than any other heavyweight.

Sure there is an outside shot of Wlad losing to anyone ....that's why they fight the fights, I am just saying that the style of Povetkin doesn't fit the mold of a guy who can take tons of punishment and outlast Wlad or one that can jump on Wlad early and go for the KO and be successful.

with only 15 pro fights to his name, it's a lot to ask for a guy to go and beat the "best" guy at said weight...

but with that said, Wlad has beaten no one of class or talent since he was sparked out... beating nobodys and looking good is no way to judge someone. This topic should be up after the IBE/WBo unification

2 chris byrd-longest reigning title holder and widely considerd number one ranked in world at time wlad destroyed him for povetkin

3 lamon brewster----former champ had psych edge of kayoing wlad 1st time and wlad handed him a one sided drubbing

.....did you see Chambers swell that eye up He's 6 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter and has a far lighter KO percentage than Wladimir Klitschko.

It is going to be BRUTAL....it's going to be the kind of KO you watch through your fingers because it's going to be gruesome

Agreed....If Chambers can do that to Povetkin Wlad is going to do some serious damage....Chambers is a good boxer but has little power...IMO Wlad is a better boxer and his power speaks for itself.....

HBO is running out of ideas for whom Klitschko should face.
Now they are going to green heavyweights who happen to also be much smaller and weaker.

Both guys on the HBO card need more time to develope before even thinking about entering the ring with Wladimir.

....he's fighting the first unification fight in the heavyweight division since 1999!!!!

He'll have Povetkin and/or Thompson to fight next or maybe he'll get time to fight for another title.

It's hard to schedule big fights in the heavyweight division but if anyone has done it the best it's Wladimir....he's fought better competition than anyone else that's near title contention


1magine you might see it like that but Povetkin couldn't handle ONE of the rounds Lamon Brewster went through to earn that win and that's the long and short of it....#1 Povetkin doesn't have the power to jump of Wlad from the get go #2 he won't be able to take the punishment to tire Wlad out and most importantly #3 NO ONE has the skills to just flat out outbox Wladimir he's one of the best skilled BOXERS as well as being the best power puncher in the division.
