    Fighting shape for a fight... if all goes well it should go down on March 28th... nothing big or earth shattering... just a little fun in the ring.

    If you check out the link on my profile you can see some of the guys that i spar with... Juan Robles and George Rivera both go to the boxing club that I go to... and I am in the ring with both of them pretty often.

    Still no where close to their level... but one of these days I will give them a run for their money...

    I actually believe that's the heart and soul behind my drive... it's not to prove that I am the best out there... but to prove to my peers that I can hang with them... if that makes sense...

    Started my Tabata portion of my workout last night... to say that it was intense would sort of be like saying... well to be honest I can't think of a good analogy right now... suffice to say it hurt...

    1 mile warm up

    8 x 20 sec sprints w/10 sec rest between

    Rest

    8 x 20 sec push-ups w/10 sec rest between: Ummm yea didn't do so well on this one...

    8 x 20 sec jump rope w/10 sec rest between

    Rest

    8 x 20 sec sit-ups w/10 sec rest between: Ummm yea this one hurt as well...

    Rest

    8 x 20 sec incline press with free-weights (Dumb bell) 12 lbs each hand: Hurt but did ok...

    I wanted to shadow box so bad but instead crawled to my truck and sat in it for about five minutes trying to get the strength to put my truck into gear... thought for a bit I would have to use my teath to drive home... my arms were dead...

    Weight = 200 lbs... 7 lbs to go...

    So tonight my EMT class was cancelled and as soon as I found out I made a beeline for the boxing club... got there a little late and so did my own warm up as the group finished theres...

    I was still feeling very stiff and sore from last nights workout and coach was really getting on people about not working hard enough tonight...

    Did six rounds of bag drills... and then one of the guys that works one of our Pro boxers came over and grabbed me and we worked through six rounds of very intense pad work...

    I am honestly quite pleased with tonights workout considering how week I felt when I got to the gym and then to have made it through 12 rounds of intense training was a very good sign to me that my fitness level is improving...

    Feel like jello tonight...

    Yesterday sucked... due to the last two previous workouts I had to take Thursday night off... I didn't want to... even drove by the gym just to see who all was there and thought about going in just to hang out...

    The truth of the matter is... I had pushed so hard during the previous two workouts that my body was totally tore down... I had to have a day to recover... to give my body time to heal...

    I could have forced a workout... wanted to force a workout... but previous experience has shown me that it is a sure recipe for disaster... some of my worst injuries have come from over training... not giving the body proper time to heal... so for once I listened to my body...

    So last night was a very down night for me... I really wanted to work out and couldn't... on top of that I hate Valentines day... seeing all the happy couples together... thinking of a couple of my ex's happy with their new boyfriends/significant others... etc really got me down...

    Then I realized that two out of the three that I was worried about spent a good bit of the day contacting me and talking to me... and also knew from some of the body language and subtle things thrown around that they are not exactly happy... haha... so in the end I decided... you know I'm not as miserable as I thought I am... haha for them thinking the grass was greener on the other side... ladies eat your heart out... cause you cant touch this...

    So I am definitely looking forward to getting back into the gym tonight... and really, really looking forward to sparring tonight... I want to hit someone... lol...

    Weight = 203 lbs... one month to hit 193... time to get serious about the weight loss... diet is being changed!

    Spent the evening at the boxing gym... normal routine...

    2/27/08

    Warm up run... then ran a mile in 6 minutes. Pretty good for an old man... but still think I can do a heck of a lot better... ahhh I know I can... wondering if I can still do a 5 minute mile. It's been a long time since I did... but I'm getting back into the shape I once was...

    "F it"... I bet I can... haha... I just set a new secondary goal for myself...

    3 min jump rope
    1 min sit-ups
    3 min jump rope
    1 min sit-ups
    3 min jump rope

    No break...

    1 x 3 minute round of shadow boxing...

    6 x 3 minute rounds on the heavy bag with 1 minute rests...

    Stretched everything really good... and feel good...

    Not a bad workout...

    Trying to decide if I am going to go to the boxing club tonight and work out hard... tomorrow night is sparring night and want to be able to really get a good nights worth of sparring in... but maybe that is what I will focus on tomorrow night... I will go workout hard tonight and focus on fighting when I don't feel as fresh and as clean as I would like... yea think that is what I will do...

    Loving life... just wish I could see an improvement in hand speed... probably there just happening slowly... so slowly that you don't really notice it...
