Convince me to get a PS3

Yea BG 100%, the manager of some game shop by mine told me.

I heard this as well... Over here, the 60gb came out for around $1000 and came down to the $950's I think... And this still played the old PS2 games which I thought was a bonus as i've got a lot of PS2 games around that I don't mind still playing.. And I have a couple of stores near me that sell 100's of as-good-as-new second hand ps2 games for like $10 to $20 so I could build up a fair collection that way without having to drop a bundle on new PS3 games when I get bored.
Then they made a huge fuss about a "better bargain" PS3 versio, but the only real difference was that it only has 40gb instead of 60gb... Which who really cares that much about 20gb... What they didn't advertise so much was that it doesn't play PS2 games.. Maybe their is a mod to fix that up?
But anyway, i'm sure that was the plan of Sony to help phase out PS2 and move everyone on to PS3... I still think it's a dumb idea though because they are cutting off their sale of PS2 games...

I'm actually not even sure if the 60gb versions are readily available over here anymore.. I'm pretty sure stores only stock the new 40gb versions for $699, and you would have to get a 60gb one second hand..


I have to admit, i'm very very used to the PS controllers, and the xbox ones might give me a little trouble to start with.

Does anyone prefer the xbox controllers over the PS ones??

There is definitely a transition between the two controllers, but nothing that you won't get used to after a few days of playing.

I personally prefer the PS3 ones because i'm used to them, and they're lighter..

I'm gonna have to get an xbox 360 if Prize Fighter is as good as it seems it's going to be.

so dizaster.. i beat God of War 1 the other day, pretty killer ending.. I was sort of hoping for a little more story, like who that dude was that was digging Kratos's grave.. maybe i just missed that part of the story..

anyway, definitely one of the best console games i've ever played, the puzzles were GREAT.. The whole Greek mythology size of it was fantastic, but with all that said, i'm SO GLAD that it's over.. some of those puzzles took me forever, but that's what makes the game so great.. anyway, i'll be borrowing from my cousin, god of war 2 soon.. are they about the same length and difficulty as far as puzzles go?

yeah well there was that 'circle of death' dilemma where it would just overheat and not work.. so you had to send it back and they'd send you one that worked ( or they'd fix it.. either way ).. such a pain in the ass if you ask me.

Got a 360 mate might look into modding it.. but to be honest mate it would cut my berthday and christmas options right down if they had every game

the 360 is fairly easy to flash, but most people who did it got banned from
xbox live, If u don't use the online though I'd definitly get it done!

Got a PS3 in the end and both my sons love it.... what impressed me the most was the joy pads being wireless and no battries needed... great feature as well as the internet browser and hard drive space.

it pisses on the xbox 360 IMO.

I got my PS3 last week once the Blu Ray/HD DVD war was over. It's great for Blu Ray DVD's, picture and sound are fantastic. Only played COD 4 offline so far but its amazing. As a CD player its as good as a LINN classik which cost me 1200 quid. I am totally blown over with this machine. £300? fucking peanuts for what this thing does.

Alright, it's gotten to that time for me, in any cheapskates life, when they've eaked out every last inch of enjoyment they can get out of an old console, while everyone around them is being glitzed and glamoured by the latest games and graphics... My ps2 has served me well with God of War 1 & 2, FNR2 & 3, Medal of honours, Kindom hearts 1 & 2, Devil May Cry series, Gran Turismo 4,,,, and I think it's time I moved on...

I originally bought the PS2 because I was desperate for Gran Turismo 4 and that tipped me over the edge..

But I havn't noticed an equivelant game on PS3 that i've seen advertised and just thought, f'k, I want to buy that whole new console just for that game..
Now Devil May Cry 4 is out I felt my wallet get a little heavier in my pocket, but the review of it aren't hugely amazing, so i'm delaying my excitement to save some money..
Also the new medal of honour game says that the Single Player Campaign is "over in a flash",,, and i'm not big on online play or multiplayer so that too hasn't won me over..

But, upon looking at reviews of some of their games, I came across one called Assassins Creed, and it looks freakin awesome!!

The graphics look awesome,, the atmosphere of the game looks as appealing to me as any game that I have ever seen since birth, and reviews of it all say the game is top notch in just about every way..

This could be the game to make me update my ancient PS2 to a new PS3...

Is Assassins Creed that good, and are there any other good reasons for me to buy a PS3 other than it's embarrassing as fuck when friends are over and see my PS2 sitting there as the centerpeice of entertainment under my tv

Awesome! Yeah i'm trying to think about the puzzles in number too.. I think they are about the same.. There were definetly a couple of places where I was stuck for a longgggg time trying to figure out what to do next, only to find it was actually something simple that I had missed over and over, which I think it what gets you.
Overall though, the fighting controls are the same, but his chains and the way he moves has improved a little. You'll feel that straight away, and trust me, it immediately feels awesome.. The story gets more indepth and plays out a bit better. It probably takes about the same amount of time I think. The graphics have been fine tuned. The levels have taken a few steps up as far as atmosphere and scenery. You have this flying option where you can temporary float across area's.. It shouldn't work as well as it does! But you love every minute of that as well..

Basically their is no area that is hugely different or better, but if you took every aspect of number 1, then added 20% more on to it, then that's number 2... Which is great because they had a winning recipe which really they could have just added a whole new set of levels and I would have loved it just as much, but everything has had a lick of fresh paint...
