Agree that was a shitty stoppage.

Maybe he thought the cut was really bad

definitely a questionable stoppage, but Lee got bloodied up BADLY within 1 minute of that round.. he got hit with about 18 SOLID right hands to his face..

i personally wouldn't have stopped it, i would've waited for him to knock Lee down and then make my decision then, but it only seemed like a matter of time.

    That was a great fight.

Yes, a bit of any early stoppage, but I think it was inevitable at that point, Vera had plenty of time left to do more damage.

I have to give Vera credit, I didn't think he would hang with Lee like that.

I have to admit that was the first and only time I have ever actually seen Andy Lee so don't know how he looked before.....

But why did people rate him?

Not knocking him just curious, was he supposed to have silky skils, a big puncher, crafty defense or what?

Cos to me and I only watched from Round 4 he looked shat.

What a great brawl, both traded plenty of big bombs. Lee's face was a mess - hasn't the guy learnt to combination punch.

Lee was taking too many shots in that last round and while he did throw a shot back when the ref stepped in - he was on the way out.

Vera was absorbing Lees shots with little effect after the 2nd round.Lee was getting affected much more from Veras shots over time.Lee has alooott of work to do

Lee failed the chin test, lol I wonder if those people still wanna see him fight Duddy, think he can beat Duddy still? That was a shitty stoppage, even though Lee might have still lost he never went down, that stagger was more of tripped up feet.

i remember Winky Wright.. and ALL i could think of during the fight was that "winky would EAT ThiS GUY ALIVE!"

Andy Lee is a real accurate puncher, but he didn't use his size enough and stay on the outside like he should have.. I was VERY surprised that Vera absorbed all those shots especially after getting dropped in the first round.. You almost couldn't NOT want Vera to win after he had those short bursts.. it was like buster douglas vs tyson when tyson just WOULDNT go down but douglas was throwing everything he had, and then finally it came and it was great.

    LMAO!!!

Yes. Can you imagine what Pavlik would have done to him. Lee needs more experience before stepping into the ring with Pavlik.

He looked awesome against shat opponents. I never really rated him that high but he did look promising, but his chin was exposed and maybe the power wasn't as good as it looked against weaker guys.

honestly i thought that was a HORRIBLE stoppage

lee landed the last 2 punches, and it wasnt a trading exchange

he was hit, vera stepped back, and then a 1 - 2 from lee and then the ref stepped in

btw i only drink on special occasions...

happy nambian family day to all

Words of Wisdom from Emmanuel Steward

Steward: "Andy Lee Beats Kelly Pavlik Now"
    By Mark Vester

Ahead of his fighter's bout on Saturday night in Limerick, trainer and manager Emanuel Steward says that middleweight prospect Andy Lee (14-0, 11KOs) can beat WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29KOs) right now.

Steward wants Lee to fight 1-2 times per month until he puts himself in position for a showdown with Pavlik at the end of the year. He also told the Belfast Telegraph that Lee is the best prospect in the world.

"Andy Lee is the best prospect in the world," says Steward. "Right now he's the best middleweight in the world. He can beat Kelly Pavlik right now."

Steward has made some very bold comments about Lee in the last few months. He views Lee as one of the best fighters that he's ever trained. Coming from the man who groomed the careers of former champs Thomas Hearns and Lennox Lewis, that statement alone shows the high hopes that Steward has for Lee. Unless he seriously steps up the competition, I'm not exactly sure if Lee will be able to seriously challenge Pavlik now, or by the end of 2008.
