Was it me or did Bernard look like a cruiserweight?
The minute they took the robe of bernard he looked a sculpt of muscle but the saying goes never judge a book by its cover however as the fight went on Bernard definetly was the bigger and stronger of the two with the way he would manhandle joe whenever they clinched and when lampley mentioned that bernard refused to the unofficial weigh in on fight night, then it seemed evident to me that bernard was probably around 190 pounds of muscle. the fight went as I thought it would go with bernard spoiling the fight for calzaghe for the first couple of rounds and with the knockdown I think it totally shook up joe & his corner and created a bigger mountain for him to climb. however joe proved his mettle that any fighter could get knockdown but only champions get up from it and deliver the goods. I had it 115-113 for Joe. bernard is by far one of my favorite fighters and one of the best fighters of this era and has nothing to be ashamed of but this was no robbery. his losses to Jermain Taylor were more questionable.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya
