I hate to agree...but I agree.Originally Posted by DIOS DOMINICANO

Another thing that amuses me...everyone focuses on the Spad sparring as a barometer for how great Spad was & could have been. I've done it myself...& I think that Paul Spad was fantastic...but one thing that everyone who rips on Floyd let's slide...the fact that Floyd looked about 20 or 30lbs heavy of his weight.
Let's forget that.![]()

Let me clarify myself, I have heard this particular thing from a couple of credible people and have not heard about it since so Im assuming it was kept quiet by his people casue they dont want it publicly known, what I do know is that Im very certain it happened but this is the internet and things spread fast so im not trying to start anything especially if it was a closed sparring session but since I brought it up I will say that it was a former title holder that Hopkins and Trinidad beat. That should tell you who the guy is, but he is a hard punching middleweight so I dont think that that should count against Floyd. Hes never been badly hurt where when it really counts.Originally Posted by DIOS DOMINICANO

I agree that it is not entirely fair to hold a sparring session against a fighter cause sparring is where your supposed to sharpen up. Most fighters who begin sparring or a fight dont look great for the first few spars. Its part of getting in fighting shape. Im not a Floyd fan but I really dont care if he has an off night sparring, hes still a great fighter.Originally Posted by wacko3205

If I remember correctly William Joppy was contacted to spar with Mayweather. But it never took place due to Joppy having some sort of legal problems.Originally Posted by BoomBoom

I heard about the knockdown too on other forums but it doesn't really matter,he wins in the ring, that
s the most important thing.. The only thing I find interesting is that Mayweather never allows his sparring sessions to be filmed. Why all the secrecy?I thought he would lvoe the cameras on him.
Well, if it is going to be ammunition for his haters, then I understand why he keeps the sparring sessions private. My guess is that he doesn't want to give away the fitness tricks. The nine and twelve minute rounds, etc.Originally Posted by El Gamo

Greg Leon said that he saw ("with my own eyes") FMJ stop a SMW in sparring. Who knows?
Just wanted to reply to this because i never got the chance, if you have ever boxed you would know every great boxer or any boxer for that matter, has took at least few whoopings in sparring thats part and parcel. Even the great Sugar Ray Robinson was knocked out cold twice in sparring by Charley Burley, like i said no matter how good you are every boxer takes a whooping in sparring.
