    Default Grrr Danny Williams

Well Williams was given another gift last night against John McDermott in what is the worst decision I've seen in a British fight since Williams got the nod in the first Skelton fight.

They may try and shaft him in Germany but he gets such preferential treatment over here that it still doesn't even balance out.

And why do the commentators always talk about him as if on his day he's some kind of boxing prodigy? They always talk about what kind of Danny Williams will turn up and then explain how he's sometimes terrible but other times magnificant.

When has he ever been magnificant?

All of his great wins were nothing of the sort, he always looks shit.

He beat the shell of the fighter formally known as Mike Tyson....well anyone could have beaten him.

They make so much about his bravely fighting with a dislocated shoulder. No he didn't! His shoulder popped and his opponent walked onto a right hand about 30 seconds later he didn't fight with a dislocated shoulder at all. They make it sound like he fought on for several rounds defying the pain barrier when in reality his opponent was stupid enough to walk into one of his punches just after his shoulder popped, he wouldn't have come out for the next round at all.

His win over Skelton was a gift, he completely lost, just like he did yesterday.

His other 'great' performance was getting battered by Vitali Klitschko.

He's the most overatted British heavyweight there has ever been.

I disagree with you on the shoulder.... Very brave effort when 99.9% of the fighters would have quit he kept going. That takes balls my friend!!! you can clown on him about everything else, but to discredit that is bullshit it was a pretty extraodinary knockout for him despite the circumstances

He was fighting over a round with a dislocated shoulder. It came out popped back in again then came out again and Danny still wouldnt quit . . . . and it was a leftuppercut Mark Potter walked onto for teh first of the 3 knockdowns. Ive seen fighters quit who were not in as bad as condition as Danny was.

    Big respect to Danny

No, British heavyweights have always been pretty awful and overhyped .... Bombadier Billy Wells, Phaintin' Phil, Cooper, Cockell, Bugner, Bruno, Mason etc etc etc.

As somebody once said "If all the british heavyweights were laid end to end .... I wouldn;t be in the least surprised"

Williams on form beats every heavyweight Wlad aside.

Williams on the form shown last night at that crazy weight 19st will lose to everyone ranked.

Danny is 1,000x better than shown and the only things that pissed me off more than Dannys performance was McDermotts disgraceful condition and Parris`s shamblic Maloney lovin.

Used to think Dave was fair and imparsial but on last nights form would give Cortez a run for his money.

Please tell me on what performance do you base this? This is the kind of shit that always gets said about Danny but I've seen all of his significant fights and I've never seen a performance that would convince anyone of this?

His only fight against significant opposition that he ever won was against a completely shot Tyson, and that is by far his best performance.

EVERY other time he's stepped up he's either looked shit or been battered.

    Simal Sam, got absolutely battered.

    Vitali, got absolutely battered.

Skelton, should have lost the first, easily lost the rematch

Harrison, won the first in the biggest heavyweight stinker of the millenuim and got absolutely battered in the rematch,

    Sprott 1 - 1

Who else? What performance have I missed where he looked world class?

I wasn't even sure how to respond to that, its much easier to respond to claims that are only kind of absurd.

Bilbo you fucking plum, Williams dislocated his shoulder in the 3rd round against Potter

And.. he would have been sickly ROBBED had the THREE points Dave (lost the plot) Parris took cost him the fight.

Mate his dislocated shoulder is all we ever hear about though. Big deal, his shoulder popped out and in the same round his club fighter opponent was stupid enough to walk onto his one good hand and get knocked out.

Brave from Williams I guess but really there are hundreds of fighters who would have fought to the end of the round like he did.

Jeff Lacy fought AN ENTIRE FIGHT against Vitali Tyspko with a dislocated shoulder that required a FULL YEAR off due to surgery and he got no credit at all. In fact all we had were people on here saying he shouldn't have got the decision

Arthur Abraham fought virtually an entire fight with his jaw hanging off his face and again gets no credit for it.

Danny Williams on the other hand fights a round with a dislocated shoulder and he's a hero for all time, and all of his future underachievements are just glossed aside as all the experts continue to tell us he's awesome on his day.

I just want to know when his day was?

Seriously no boxer has ever had more excuses made for him and had more praise unjustly hepaed upon him than Danny Williams has.

Whenever a boxing expert or pundit talks about Matt Skelton, they are always at pains to stress to us how shit and limited they think he is. Whenever Audley is mentioned they are always at pains to stress to us how delusional he is and how much of a fraud he is.

Yet whenever they mention Danny they always talk about this mythical figure who 'on his day' (and please tell me when that day was!) can beat anybody.

The fact is a shot Tyson aside he's never beaten anybody. He got a gift against Skelton in the first fight, who avenged it by winning practically every round in the rematch, and he barely beat Audley in the worst fight of the past 100 years when Audley fought an absolute stinker, and Audley himself annihilated him in the rematch.

I just wish people would be honest about Danny Williams. He's a fat, lazy, woefully inconsistent heavyweight who fights only in short burst, but he can bang and when he gets tagged he's dangerous for the next minute or so until he's lulled back into a slumber again.

At his best he's a highlight reel for a world championship calibre fighter.

At his worst he's a name opponent on the record of an otherwise completely unheralded club fighter.

    That's it. FACT!
