Floyd IS retired, he said it. Sure, there are topics about "What would happen if X fought Y" but talking about him as if he would fight in certain date of the year and so on seems a bit ridiculous. Until he makes it public that he's coming back then we'll see.

Wtf is this? Hopefully Ive missed some threads on the subject as i would expect more to be demanding a fight with Margarito.

Oscar/Pac is a NO WIN fight for Oscar. Oscar wins, it was against a teeny tiny featherweight who made the mistake of jumping up too far, ala Ricky Hatton. Oscar loses, yea... nice exit Oscar.

Here's the thing, though. Oscar CANT beat Manny. Manny will absolutely light Oscar up and force a stoppage or late tko.

Furious. Oscar, if you were gung-ho on fighting Miguel, you need to be just as adamant to fight Antonio. I cannot believe this stupid fight is taking shape. Wake me when its over, im going to pout.

This is the most retarded comment I have ever read on here. Margarito has nothing that oscar needs.

Was Robinson criticized for facing Henry Armstrong, was Hagler criticized for facing Leonard? This is complete bullshit give Oscar a break, he has foughten every person, people have wanted him to so leave him alone
    He fought
Hopkins, Trinidad, Camacho, Chavezx2, Mosleyx2, Mayorga, Vargas, Quartey, Whitaker, G. Hernandez, Ruelas, Molina, Leija, Castillejo, Sturm, Gatti.

If you aren't happy with this list then nobodies list in the past 25 years will suffice. We know Pacquaio is a great fighter, but we don't know how good he will be, but I still think Margarito is a style that Oscar beats pretty easily.

People diss ODLH for anything he does but besides being a gold medalist can we compare any other guy's list of opponents with his? By his 13th fight he was already facing a BIG NAME who was not passed his prime. After that, bunch of big fights ONE AFTER THE OTHER: Hopkins, Trinidad, Camacho, Chavezx2, Mosleyx2 (did he really loose the 2nd one?), Mayorga, Vargas, Quartey, Whitaker, G. Hernandez, Ruelas, Molina, Leija, Carr, Kamau, Castillejo, Sturm, Gatti. Sure, Cotto, Margarito, and Pac have their qualities but can we say they have a comparable list of opponents and accomplishments as ODLH?

I thought Margarito was born here in CALI, there is no reason for him not to be able to speak English. The Philippines is halfway across the planet, and yet majority of us speaks the language

Oscar has all the qualities a great fighter needs. Skill, power, speed, CHIN and SIZE, Prime for Prime Oscar beats Margarito. At this stage of their career most probably a close UD win for Oscar or might get stopped like Miguel. At 147lbs like Margarito, Oscar is a BIG WELTER!!!

This is by far NOT the most retarded comment I have ever seen on here.

Folks, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers but I feel like alot of you are focusing on the wrong details here.

Margartio has nothing Oscar needs? What? How bout the being the guy that beat the guy you were supposed to retire on? How in the world, after completely breaking Miguel Cotto, is Antonio not EXACTLY what Oscar needs on his sunset fight? This is very confusing to me.

Manny is indeed a p4p king, but a tiny one at that. If you think Oscar will get mucho props for beating Manny, (in my opinion he can't win anyway) I think youre mistaken.

We'll see when either Mayweather comes back and kicks Margarito's ass, or when Paul Williams does it again. Oscar DOES NOT need to beat the champion at WW, because Margarito is a forgetable character, when boxing is barely a whisper in the future people will remember guys like Pacquaio is one of the best southpaws to ever lace up. Pacquiao is just another p4p #1 on Oscar's belt, whether he wins or not this fight means way more to the WORLD then Margarito-De La HOya ever could. ALso Oscar is a really big welterweight, He looked bigger in the shoulders and just bigger in general than Trinidad when they fought, he still moves well which means those legs aren't done, and that means a lot of trouble for Margairto because Oscar can throw that jab just as hard as Cotto's, but with so much less effort, and its a lot faster. Oscar will pepper Margarito from the outside with right hands and that nasty jab, and once and awhile he will land that left hook from hell that hit Mayorga in the first round of their fight. Margarito can have the best chin in the world, but if he is caught off balance after once of his haymakers he will go down.

You seem convinced. So forget Pac. Let Oscar make the fight with Margarito and cement his legacy. Me... I'll be rooting for Margarito, and raking in the money from the bets I'll be sure to make with overzealous DLH fans.

Aside from less money from fighting Tony. Oscar does not want his ego forever crushed when he gets demolished by The Tijuana Tornado or any top welter out there right now.

The mere fact that the man has lost virtually every big fight he's been in over the past 5 years only points to the fact that Oscar's doing the SMART thing; make sure your farewell fight sends you off into the sunset with a W.

True, but December 8th was his last fight.
His previous fight was May 5th of last year.
And by the time Williams/Margarito happens IF it happens would put a match against Mayweather around May-June of '09 I have no doubt that Floyd is in shape and keeping up in the gym, but if he's not sparring, that's a huge issue. Skills wise Floyd mops the floor with either, but they both present the same problem the reach of a heavyweight and a non-stop assault, that would be difficult for someone of Floyds size and while the counter argument is Diego Corrales (RIP), Corrales was a very different fighter than Margarito and Williams, he was more selective with his power shots. One things for sure Floyd CANNOT lay on the ropes against either.
I believe Floyd can actually capitalise on their reach.
    I really believe that.

Please note the date I started this, and I believe at the time i was alone and possibly first to allude to the shredding that was to come.

    What an asswhooping.
