Casamayor is mostly wrong for JMM...
    - bigger
    - southpaw
    - too dirty
    - boxer/counterpuncher

    Casa by UD...

Yeah Marquez is really a young prospect at 35 years old. He's old himself
True. But my take is that Marquez has still been boxing 3 minutes a round and looking very sharp in doing so. Casamayor looked sluggish against Katsidis and was clearly losing before getting the knock out.

If he is in any way sluggish or old against Marquez then he may suffer. Katsidis is technically weak, though moving up, Marquez is a far greater challenge.
Marquez was good puncher at Featherweight. Good not great. Now he's at Lightweight. And for the first time in his career facing a fighter naturally bigger than him. Yes he's fought at 130 before. But that was against fighters who like him moved up in weight. And even than he was having trouble hurting them and taking there punches. Casamayor has been at 135 for 4 years. He's war with big punchers like Corrales, Castillo, Katsidis and Freitas. I seriously doubt Marquez can hurt him. But I know Casamayor can hurt him.

I have no idea who is going to win this (I've said that about a couple of fights in the last month). If Casa has declined as much as it appears he has, I think Marquez takes it. However, I think a prime-ish Casa takes the fight, probably stopping Marquez in the process (just too much skill and power). That's not a shot at Marquez, he's P4P better than Casa, but I think he is much better suited to 135 than JMM. I could be completely wrong though.

Like I said, I have no idea who's going to win. I'm leaning towards JMM. I'll certainly be cheering him on.

JMM by points for me. It could be UD or split decision. If JMM can take Pac's punches then he can take Casa's. JMM will be playing around Casa if Casa does not go dirty.

Next to pac, JMM is the man for me

looking forward to this one, I like both fighters but am going with Casa by ud, think he'll have JMM on the deck along the way as well.

One of the most under-rated aspect of Marquez is his power. Believe me he has power. Overall, pac probably has more power in his punches than Marquez, except in one area: Marquez has more powerful straights than pac. They're hardly noticed because he usually never follows up on them; it's almost always a one-shot-at-a-time affair. I think his straights can still hurt anyone even at 135. But the problem for Marquez is, 'will he be able to catch Joel with them?' I'm not sure about that, so we'll see, but one thing I'm sure of is that if Joel catches Marquez with one of those that caught Kats, it'll be over for him - the legit 135lb power punches will be too much for featherweight Marquez...
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

I was thinking along the same lines. I always wonder what Casa will show up, but he should be motivated for this one. They are both at the age and stages of their career where they can go downhill quickly. Since JMM is moving up, it is definitely going to be harder on him IMO and Casa will be very motivated.

I think Marquez takes a comfortable decision. Casamayor has less in the tank, he wont be getting off as quickly as he'll need to avoid being countered and outhustled is my take. It should be a great shoot out early to mid rounds but I think Marquez can keep up a much higher pace and stay sharp all 12 rounds. Casamayor will definetly be dangerous in this one though, he could hurt Marquez at any point. I don't see Marquez really hurting him with anything either, he'll need to fight very smart.

Not saying this will be dull but I wouldn't expect a fast paced fight. Marquez really doesn't like going after people, both counterpunchers, they're both a bit old, etc.

Marquez should have too much at this point.

Casamayor's stamina at this stage of his career is not that good anymore but he will not be likely at disadvantage on this factor since JMM is not a pressure fighter... Casa will have a lot of breathing room...

And if JMM will try to add some pressure, Casa will probably land a good counterpunch... It's an area where Casa is very good at...

iight VD ima go with u on this one, so ima put my money on casa....i like him esp after last fight but the odds are

    -400 marquez to +300 casa....O.O

that scared the scrap out of me.....

whether or not he loses the fight itself, he may get another favorable decision like he did with the uncrowned king...=)

    .

you really seem to have something against JMM,

Marquez is also a very good counter puncher, however my only worry is with the potential increase in power from 130 to 135 marquez may get caught cold early on in the fight like against pacquiao first time round and a quick Kd or two could cost him the fight like it did in both pacquiao fights IMO, casamayor also did put katsidis down twice in the first when he was fresh at the start of the fight

although i think JMM will take a wide points victory, i feel he just needs to be careful in the first couple of rounds
