People tend to have more problems with 360's I think, the whole "red rings" thing but I haven't had any issues. PS3 just doesn't have the games IMO, unless you're a huge Metal Gear Solid fan. And the 360's cheaper.

And XBOX has a shit ton of first person shooters if that's what you're into.

That is the downside with them, about as dependable as Juan Guzman and when playing discs they can sound like your in an aircraft hanger.

You could never really use a 360 for watching movies, at least not ones with quiet dialogue as the hum is unbearable.

I'm not sure if the PS3 has that when playing blue rays but I imagine it does.

Every pc I've ever had is always noisy as hell when playing discs as is every Xbox I've listened to, so no reason why the Ps3 would be any different.

My advice would be to get a 360 for gaming and then if you want blue ray movies a seperate blue ray player. Don't try and combine as you only wear out the drive real quick and consoles make for crappy, noisy awful playback machines anyway.

i have the 360 elite and they have pretty much solved all the problems with that one , not had no red ring yet weras my brothers original 360 gets it all the time , constantly going back and forth between us and microsoft for repairs,

also the noise it makes is greatly improved in the elite, think they put different fans and cooling systems in them

Sounds like the one to get then. It's a bit shit though that their 'elite' model is basically just a working model whereas their standard unit is just complete and utter crap.

They should be called, 'standard' and 'unusable' models

Red rings ? Seems 360 has much deeper selection.I also forget Halo 3 exclusive.Sounds like Im off to Best Buy . How about playing games from the original x-box ? Are either system capable of playing titles from previous systems?

pretty much , think the elite was basically what they came up with when they tried to solve the original problems and then realised they could sell them with a huge HD and make a load of money without having to do anythin to the original ones to stop them breaking

Well I have a pro and I haven't had problems but that's obviously not been the case for everybody. Mines not even very loud, maybe I just got lucky.

You have to have a harddrive to play old X-box games and even then you can't play all of them. There's a list of which ones you can play on Xboxlive.com

Pretty much the same with the PS3, the ones with the bigger hard drive can play some PS2 games.

ye, only problem for me is i did have a ps2 and now a 360 so i cant play any of my old games ....

but its good console in general with some very good games especially online, which is another benefit of a 360 over ps3 in my opinion as they are cheaper and more ppl have them its more likley youll be able to chat to and play your mates online

I ended up buying a PS3 after all my threads asking opinions on which one I should get.. In the end you'll enjoy any.. But I was a PS1 man and a PS2 man so it was really hard thinking of switching and it's not like i'm not going to be happy with the PS3...

I have only got Guitar Hero which i've wanted to play for ages because I miss my guitar that I sold quite hastily in my teen years and have regretted it ever since..
And my housemate lent me Devil May Cry 4 which i'm going to finish soon and then go and buy a few more games.

Metal Gear Solid 4 looks totally insane so i'm definitely getting that as my next game.. That is one that will really make getting the PS3 worthwhile.. Call of Duty 4 i've heard has a really short 1player mode so i'm thinking of just hiring that over a weekend because i'm not big on online playing...

Assassin's Creed is definitely another one that is appealing.. May not be the best game ever but it's the sort of game i'd like to absorb myself in for a few weeks and I'd probably enjoy it more than most people...

Overall, love my PS3 so far... I'm going to watch the occassional Blue-Ray on it, but they cost a lot to buy and the stores don't really have a big range to hire so i'm going to only really hire movies I reallllllly want to watch on it so's I don't wear out the lazzzer.

I thought GTA IV was very disappointing they took majority of the features out the driving is more awkward and the story wern't as good either i mean the character keeps saying he needs money but for what ? you can't really buy anything in the game and the ending was depressing and the missions wern't as varied overall very disappointing i don't really play video games anymore but GTA is one of my favorite series but i thought the game was a serious let down.

I'm the same mate. I spent £1500 on a kick ass pc a year or so ago and bought Crysis, Bioshock, Gears Of War, Stalker, The Witcher, The Half Life Orange Box.

I completed Bioshock, great game, got half way through stalker, played Crysis for a few hours and have never even installed the others.

I always say to myself that I'll install them soon and play through them but the reality is when I'm on my pc I'm either downloading films and boxing, posting here or playing online chess.

I never play any games and its a shame as my pc is a beast. Never mind I loved Bioshock and got my money's worth out of that.

I havn't played any games at all in over 6 months now.

I am very far behind. There was a time when I'd frankly burn half a day and not realize it until it was late PM.Then come the realities of the daily trials & tribulations calling, time is short .But,I need a comeback.Gears of Wars,GTA 4 or Halo 3 sound like a nice on line fix.

Since January,Ive evolved to high speed and an up to date system.....now I can actually post, etc. in under 5 minutes .Almost like having a second job !
