Because theres no way Robin Reid would turn a rematch down, unless the money difference was ridiculous and unfair.

Robin Reid isn't the kind of fighter to avoid fights, remember he did go to Germany and fight Sven "Gift Decisions" Ottke.
You know for a fact Reid wouldn't turn it down? The words came from Robin Reids mouth. You think he was lying?

What's the rough amont per bout Reid has made throughout his career then?
Robin Reid fought all comers i didn't say it was a fact, but i would say theres no way he would turn a rematch down unless the money difference wasn't fair. Joe Calzaghe has been known to be hard to negotiate fights with, look how long it took to get fights with Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler.

When a fighter goes to Germany knowing full well what he is in for, and fights there champ in there backyard. And also fights Jeff Lacy in his backyard, i can honestly say Robin Reid would no way duck any fights, especially a rematch with Joe Calzaghe.
In both those fights reid had very little bargaining chips, harder to refuse a gift horse compared to when he just fought Calzaghe and thought his negotiating position was stronger.

I know this is hard for a lot of people to to get but this is FACT!! you can go through almost every boxer in history and find a controversial result or a number of them somewhere along the line, in fact I bet you could do that with almost every sport

Its a waste of time this thread is called "Re: Robin Reid vs Joe Calzaghe Who Won Come And Vote."

    Joe Won Fact!
So i guess Evander Holyfield deserved a draw against Lennox Lewis in there 1st fight, or Pernell Whitaker derserved to lose to Jose Luis Ramirez ? Please stop using the record books argument its a weak arguement, and it doesn't sound like you have any real argument. That can convince me Joe Calzaghe deserved the nod against Robin Reid.

Im not saying this fight is in the same league as those fights above regarding controversy.

But people still are allowed to debate who they thought. Should of won this is a boxing forum after all and controversial decisions are part and parcel of discussions here, it sounds like your Joe Calzaghe fan boy. That can't handle people discussing one of Joe Calzaghe's controversial fights.

If you don't want to debate on the fight or you have that logic, don't bother replying its as simple as that really.

Ok first off I am not some Joe Calzaghe Fan Boy

At the time of this fight I lived in Newcastle but was from Manchester I had met Robin Reid a few times an had followed him from the Olympics I wanted Robin to smash the shit out of the Welsh F***er

    But he didn't

It was a close fight and while some people I was with thought Robin had it I saw Joe edge it I cant remember exact details of the fight but I remember

it could have gone either way but was not upset by the result

This was far from a robbery Robin was robbed against Sven Ottke but he lost to Joe

Sometimes we dont like the result but unless we want professional boxing scored the same way it is in the amateurs then there is always going to be some controversy unless it is as blatant as the Robin / Sven fight then I am happy to accept the judges ruling
Thats all well and good i got no problem with that, i just want people to give me some good points why they thought Joe Calzaghe won. Because out of all these posts im the only real one who has given legit points so far.

Yeah i agree good fighter was that Reid. Thats why Calzaghe beating him with a BROKEN hand was a hell of a win.

Reid never mentioned the money difference wasn't fair. He said he WANTED MORE than he was offered.

We thought bearing in mind how close the first fight was we would get paid a decent amount for a second fight, especially when so many people thought I won the first one. I was told I would get paid what I was worth, I was told it would be an offer I could not refuse, in the end all I was offered was 90k, that was only 15k more than the first time around.

No one could tell me that people would not have been interested in a second fight, all I wanted was to be paid for what I was worth! To be honest I thought I was going to be offered 150k and as I say I was offered 90k, that is why the second fight never came. It was shortly after that I signed for Jess Harding.

Robin Reid; I beat Calzaghe in the 1st fight...; I would beat him in the 2nd!

All this PROVES is Reid was offered the rematch. Fact.

He doesn't say "i turned the offer down because Calzaghe was getting bundles more" does he?

He wanted 150k. He was offered 90k. So he said bollocks to the rematch.

As ive said before, all It shows is he was offered the rematch. Fact.
