I think if anything Arreola is like James Toney he forgets the cardio and just sticks with sparring to train for a fight....that's all fine and dandy when you're controling the pace but when someone is moving you around the ring and punching you in the face constantly it's going to be different than being in the ring with some shmoe sparring partner

I am really surprised that experienced boxing followers would give Arreola any chance against Klitchsko....

Arreola hasnt beaten anyone of note, doesnt have proven power and he comes in underprepared for fights....I think Arreola is extremely overrated and will be KO'd when he faces a top ten HW let alone the number 1 or 2 guy....

Thompson, Brock, Peter, and Austin would beat Arreola....

Thompson might...I think Sam Peter is on the way down, Ray Austin would be an interesting fight, and Calvin Brock would have been a good fight but I think he's retiring now.

I think Lamon Brewster would beat Arreola right now.

    Haha! A fighter named Arreola?

Heavyweights are the only fights I care about, so i'm looking forward to this one.

Povetkin is a midget who gets by on conditioning and heart. Arreola had over 200 amateur fights and won a national Golden Gloves title.

The problem with Arreola is his motivation. He's had breaks from boxing where he lost interest, and he's come into fights, especially against weaker opposition, in rotten shape. Because of his lazyness and having a chin that allows him to get away with it, he usually relies on his brute power to get rid of people. When he turns up in shape, he actually looks like a decent prospect.

Arreola has a better change to beat Wlad than Povetkin because he has the physical power to rough him up, the chin so that he won't be out the first big shot he takes, and power to put Wlad on his ass hard. If Arreola come in about 230 and jump on Wlad like Corrie Sanders did, it's going Wlad is going to have problems to deal with, a least for few rounds. Arreola doesn't have Sanders handspeed, but he's not going to sit back and let Wlad fight at Wlad's normal, snail-like pace.

Lamon Brewster will never beat another opponent of note. The guy is retirement-minded and kid's college fund-minded at the same time. He'll stick around, despite a preference to be at home with the wife and kids, but will not display the kind of heart that carried him through against Klitschko. Arreola will pound on him until he's tired and then they'll slump together across the finish line.

Thompson will play pitty-pat with Arreola's face for 12 rounds and if Sam Peter can get his house together I think he could give Cris a good smackin'. I buy that about Brock. The guy's got brains enough to make money doing something else and he just realized: he can do something else.
    Oops

At one point the Klitschko brothers both seemed to be in contention to fight David Haye. After Haye's performance against Barrett, Wlad fights Arreola and gets his big brother to duff up Haye.

Therefore my response to this announcement is why is Wlad going after Arreola instead of Haye would be my question.

Just a guess, but it might have to do with keeping the soup people happy.

Arreola is the #2 contender for Wlads IBF belt, behind Povetkin who in injured. Haye is not ranked by that body. Arreola is also rank #3 by the WBO. Haye is ranked 2 by that body, but fighting the number three probably makes them happy enough. Since holding those straps matters to Wlad, this gives him a chance to make a defense that will satisfactory both of those bodies. Haye is ranked 5 by the WBC which is probably high enough to convince the WBC to make JC Gomez wait until after a higher profile fight happens.

I wouldn't take too much from Haye's win over Barrett. Barrett isn't half the fight he once was, and he was never that much to begin with. Haye is in for world of shock when he steps in with Vitali.

arreola wont survive klitschkos jab and cross will flatten him and besides that how'd his ranking get so highif he even gets one he should fight haye first to make it interesting. Arreola is OK but everyone knows he wont hold that title if he earns it.
