Default Mundine 12/02/09 - "I am the best in the world"

Just saw him on the news after his win over Shannon Taylor...

    Quote :

"I am ready for the best in the world".. "I AM the best in the world"..

I'm wondering if he still believes this.. I'm wondering if he thinks there are still Australians, schooled in boxing or otherwise, who believes this?

One kind of plus is that he's "eyeing off the belt of Felix Sturm" and is considering going to Germany... I rate this fight higher than his last 7 or 8, but eyeing it off is another thing to signing and jumping on a plane over there... However just after that they mentioned Green is coming out of retirement for another crack at Mundine... On past evidence, Mundine will surely take the Green fight and not bother with Sturm... If he goes and beats Felix, he would have a case for a fight in the US, but I have hoped and practically prayed that he'd seek and take a fight with a US fighter and bring himself seriously into the game, but his choice of fights has been so much more than just a let down giving his tallent and potential... Every time he fights or announces a fight, I just feel let down and dissapointed.. And i'm almost 100% i'll be dissapointed with his next scheduled fight..

Like, it might well be the case that he's tried his ass off for months to get a decent respected fighter to get in the ring with him, and just no one wants a piece at all, in which case i'd have empathy and would support him in whatever fights he gets.... But i'm not sure that is the case,,, and even if it is, to still continue declaring your the best in the world is just old and tiresom...
Hell, i'd actually rather him wave a handful of notes about and say how much money he made from his last fight.. At least it would have an ounce of truth or reality to it..

    That is all...

Mundine gets overlooked all the time in america and europe.

He really should considering doing what katsidis has done and getting himself over to the US before its too late!!

Youve really got to feal for the Aussies at the mo

Having to deal with arsonists and now this embarrasing little cuunt

Fuck me, Shannon Taylor has been cannon fodder since Mosely beat him, he did make Abraham struggle a little, I watched that one, also remember seeing Richard Williams doing everything he wanted and stopping him 8 years ago

Mundine got wiped out by Ottke, if your world class that doesnt happen

A fight with Katsidis should be his next ppv fight.

Mundine was kind of funny on the news though, as they played a replay of a bunch of the horrible low blows that Taylor landed on him throughout the fight..

He's like "yeah, not sure what will happen if I want to have kids now.. He did a bit of damage down there"...

Anyway, I want to support him I really do, but I just want to see him make the most of his potential whatever it is.. If he comes up short, he went down fighting..

After that, we just gotta wait for the next Kostya

Wasn't it about a year ago that Mundine had that eye infection & they were saying he could go blind in one eye & never fight again. I'm glad that didn't end his career but has anyone even seen that mentioned again lately?

Just watched the highlights on youtube and Mundine is shite, no snap, power or strength and was getting beaten to the punch, if he fought Abraham hed get wreacked, I think even Sturm will batter him.

He must be weaker at this weight and desperate to avoid the big boys at super middle, he did alot better against kessler but on this form hes got nothing to offer on the world scene.

Most casual boxing fans in the US have never heard of him, and those that have never saw him fight. Maybe hes ok with that, but the truth is there are a lot of guys in the middleweight division who would beat him, and at this point if he did fight outside of Austrailia, he gets humiliated. Come to think of it, the one time he fought outside his back yard he was KOd by Ottke.

I want to see Mundine do a hip hop collaboration with Joachin Phoenix.

I don't hate Mundine like most do on here, he hasn't had a bad career, his KO loss to Ottke is going to hang over him for the rest of his career and he talks a lot of shit, be he legitimately has speed and skill.

Mundine couldn't put a shot and old Shannon Taylor away, how on earth is he going to beat anyone at 160lb at the top of their game?
Seriously, Abraham would win a convincing decision over Mundine and i think Sturm would too, Mundine has lost all power at Middleweight.
Going up to 175 lb to fight Green in a meaningless rematch would only make sense if he did it just for the money. If he wants titles at 160lb then he needs to perform a lot better than he did against Shannon Taylor. Mundine is 33 and is running out of time, he needs a win over Sturm or Abraham in 2009 to be taken seriously. Who would fight him in the US unless this happens? Mundine is on borrowed time.

What a Russian to move to Australia? That won't happen now that they can fight pro out of Russia.
