Default Bad Chad Dawson:Future Light Heavyweight King??

Well, Chad Dawson survived a first round flash knockdown to go on and decisively beat the "Tarver killer" and always game Eric Harding. He looked pretty immpresive in his win aside from the knockdown in which he wasnt really hurt. He didnt look great in the first few rounds but he came through in the latter rounds IMO. How does this kid fair against Tarver or Johnson in the future? I think he could go on to do big things in the division

He gets beaten by both. And probably knocked out by Tarver. he is still a prospect until he beats the likes of Paul Briggs or Adamek

I think that Woods would be a good fight for him at this point. But your right hes not quite ready for tarver or johnson at this point anyways

Yea. I don't like how open he was for right hooks. If thats Glen Johnson or Antonio tarver in there then Chad goes to sleep. Remember what Glen Johnson did to Khalid Jones when he made that mistake And I'm not sure he beats Woods. His first title shot should be Erdei. But he should fight Paul Briggs first.

You're right, ragu. He's no bum, but Harding's not what he used to be. I literally saw him give up in that fight. He was even being cynical and giving the blank stare between rounds.

Dawson is good, but he needs at least 4 defenses before he can step up. He won this without having to see a 'championship' round.

Prospect? Yes Contender? Starting to mid

    Holla back!

Hey jangeorg, did you SEE the fight?

Dawson is a full 6'2", and has already fought everywhere from middle to LHW. He stepped up against a CAREER LHW and beat him 10 rounds to 12--with good shots a person could talk about

This is no Jeff Lacy, who came into someone's backyard expecting his power to do it for him.

I know Harding is over the "Prime" so to speak but he was and is still a good fighter...he is moving to the stepping stone status if you will....and I agree with the need for additional fights...he is still a little green but I think he learned more in this one fight than his past 10...he got caught cold...knocked down...got up..and proceeded to take care of business....He didn't lose his composure and start swinging for the fences..he stuck with his game plan (a veteran move) and got the job done....he beat the man they put in front of him...what more could you ask of him?....

Ragu--totally agree that harding is a 'gateway' fighter now.

jangeorg - First, let me tell you that I have no special attraction or affinity to any boxer just because of where they are from.

Chad Dawson is a good fighter, but I said he needs more work. I did see him wobble in the fight, but he never lost his composure. After the first round, this fight started to remind me of JM Marquez v. M Pacquiao. Nervous energy, then focused plan.

    side note...
Joe Calzaghe has bee going on about how no one has 'heard' about him and the 'secret' is out. That man has been well protected for many years, and it was exactly that type of career that Hatton is trying NOT to have; hometown hero.

This is exactly the type of fight Calzaghe takes... a 21-0 kid who hasn't proven anything yet and may just be making his way to the top ten.

Yes, Calzaghe has fought top ten fighters, but WHEN did he fight them?

Johnson KO's Calzaghe--if Johnson comes to pressure

Only thing i have to say is,if Chad Dawson fought a hard-hitter like Calzaghe or Kessler and he got hit he will stay down,Dawson defence are to weak

Chad is a good young fighter with a lot of promise....he needs to step up to better fighters since whipping Harding.

He's a crafty southpaw with some pop....that's a good mix to rule a division
