Clottey can't outbox Cotto so he would have to either try to put this pressure on him for 12 rounds or catch Cotto with one that does change the fight. Clottey's peek a boo style will not bode well against Cotto. He will get in and out before Clottey counters. Cotto wins this by convincing UD.
    I see what your saying

(Too bad Clottey didn't take drafting in school.)

Cheating a side and not to over simplify things but Margarito's strategy was quite simply I can take more punishment and hit harder than you.

you can all short sell Clottey as much as you want but:

He is as rough, tumble and crafty as there is, he is technically sound with a great jab and A+++++++ defense to go with immense size (usually weighs 160 after rehydration) not to mention he's solid as a tree stump.

When Cotto can't break his man down he slams it in reverse and fights off his back foot. He cant and wont even put a dent in Clottey and will get broken down himself when he starts going backwards..

Clottey in a punishing 12 round desicion or late stoppage win and I personally wouldnt call it an upset.

Clottey is a damn good fighter who is underrated like Winky was all those years and this will be his break out fight.

I think Joshua Clottey is the perfect fighter for Cotto to go against in his comeback from that "loss" to Margarito.

Clottey doesn't have bone crushing power (I would of course make sure to double check his handwraps though).

Clottey doesn't throw millions of punches like Margarito

and Clottey doesn't apply pressure like Margarito, he may come forward alot but since he's not throwing a bunch of punches and he doesn't have crazy punching power it shoudln't matter to Miguel.

Cotto needs to BOX, he needs to hit and not get hit, he needs to work on movement, combination punching, and attacking the body. He can counter extremely well as we saw in the first half of the Margarito fight but he's going to have to be able to do that for 12 rounds and I think because of the way he lost he's going to give a good showing vs Clottey.....I just hope he doesn't try too hard because he did that a couple times (Corley and Torres) and it didn't help out at all.

Agreed with all of that.....Though I will say that I agree with JT Rock about Clottey being sold a bit short and underestimated. Clottey has a penchant for not showing up to some fights and kind of just walking through them with a laclustre sort of approach. But this fight with Cotto I expect the best Clottey to show up and I think he wll give Cotto some problems later in the fight. I got Cotto winning this one pretty decisively but he can't get cutesy with this kat or he could find himself in trouble down the stretch.

Clottey is durable and THAT is why he's dangerous...he could withstand a big attack and be there when Cotto is gased out or eventhough he's not a huge puncher he could catch Cotto who would be willing to trade more after getting hit and withstand that and maybe end it early.

But any way it ends up it's COTTO's doing, he'll either fight smart and win or be dumb and lose

To all those who are picking Clottey, I can understand your reasoning. Clottey's a tough, solid fighter, who takes punches and keeps on coming. He gave Margarito all he could handle and then some. I also see no Cotto hate on your picks, only some huge belief on Clottey.

That being said, I hope Cotto proves you all wrong in June. People have always underestimated Cotto, and after the Margarito fight there was a bunch of "I told you so's". But we all know what transpired after that. Not only did Margarito's cheating put reasonable doubt on Cotto's fight...... but also to those who were saying that Cotto had beaten an old Mosley, the obvious answer is:

    NOW who's old?!?

So we'll see on June 13th. One thing for sure, as with all of Cotto's fights. It'll be a good fight and one that all boxing fans will enjoy.
