Default Walking weight and fighting weight?

This is the one area of Boxing that I really haven't figured out. Commentators always say so and so walks around this weight, but he fights at this weight. My walking around weight is 140-147 and my fighting weight is 140 or 147 (depending on what division I'm fighting in) so my question is, is that normal or ok that my walking around weight is the same as my fighting weight?

Most Amatuers who fight regulary in small shows etc will fight at what they walk around at. Won't do you any good to be drying up that soon before a fight or that often.

The majority of pros dry up or boil down and some Amatuers will start to when they're fighting mostly in tornaments/the Olympics and know when and what they have to weigh in.

Another thing is it is very different in the amateurs. In the amateurs you weigh in the night of the fight. Its very common to fight near what your walking around weight is in the amateurs. A good rule of thumb is to go down to the next available weight. In big tournaments then go down a couple.
