Plus he was never good enough to beat Pac anyway![]()
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
See this is where Diego Corrales' death really pisses me off....I ALWAYS thought a Hatton-Corrales fight would have been great also Acelino Frietas or Jorge Barrios. I think Ricardo Torres would have been a good choice too, he's powerful, but he's very vulnerable.
Here are my top 10 for Ricky to fight:
1. Junior Witter - the fight should have been made years ago!
2. Amir Kahn - a true "pass the torch" fight, would show that Ricky is a very good sport too
3. & 4. Michael Katsidis/Mike Arnaoutis - both very beatable for any version of Ricky Hatton, also the outside chance that the fight turns out to be a classic.
5. Breidis Prescott - avenge the defeat of fellow countryman Amir Kahn
6. & 7. Ricardo Torres/Kendall Holt - more dangerous than most of the other fighters but also 2 vulnerable guys.
8. Vivian Harris - dangerous but a guy Ricky should be able to KO
9. Nate Campbell - Tough old guy nearing the end of his career would be a very solid fight.
10. Some local 135-140 fighter just to give them a look at the big time earn money and give the fans a good show
Not a gimme by any means and they may want to look for a slower sort of guy.Forbes has enough hand speed, foot work and endurance to mark up Hatton significantly and might just have him playing catch up as the rounds go by.Bad style for him.
Yep, forget the loss of human life, the fact he couldn't make a fight with Hatton that's the real kick in the balls
The only guys that I think Hatton now beats out of those guys are Arnaoutis, Harris and whatever 'local' fighter they get (as long as it ain't Khan, Witter or Olesegun). Maybe Torres if he uses his head right like Holt did.
It's a good farewell fight for Hatton. Or so I presume.
Forbes is a good, slick fighter with an iron chin, but he's also the epitome of a fighter who has a sparring partner mentality. I expect this fight will play out in much the same way as the ODH - Forbes fight did. Forbes will have his moments, and the potential for an upset will be there, but he'll do just enough to look decent in losing, which will probably garner him more of these types of fights in the future ($$$).
Anyone who expects him to take on a serious challenge for this type of a fight is insane. Torres or Katsidis? Are you fucking kidding me? The last thing Hatton wants after that brutal knockout is a slug-fest with a power puncher. Witter would be coming for blood as well and Hatton knows that. Forbes is the perfect opponent.
Forbes wins a split decision.
Ricky should have retired.
He has a built-in "I only lost two fights, and they were to the greatest p4p fighters of the day."
He loses this one, and plop goes the tatters of his remaining legacy.
I disagree. First, I really don't think Hatton will lose this fight. Second, at the end of their careers many fighters have lost to opponents they would have steamrolled in their prime, it takes nothing away from the fighter Hatton was if he loses to Forbes, it only demonstrates how far he has fallen.
If this is true it could be a tough test for Hatton. He has suffered 2 of the heavier KO's of recent times and Steve Forbes will stand there and fight all night. Hatton has the same mentality but I think his beard may have gone, would be a shame to see Hatton get hurt if this is the case.
