Can he handle Hatton, Mayweather, Castillo? He has the power no doubt he has send the last two opponents to the hospital, but I still question if he has the skill or chin to compete with these guys.

I think he might beat Hatton to death....Mayweather dances and pounds him for 8-9 rds then stops Cotto.....Castillo gets KTFO inside of 5 rds.....Originally Posted by Taeth

he is a banger...but iwould like to see him fight torres again considering that torres took the fight on short notice and wasn't in shape...and dropped cotto...every since then they've been putting him in with feater punchers...

maybe you're on to something there....Is Cotto's chin that suspect?....if so take away the Hatton remark I said earlier.....Originally Posted by JonesJrMayweather

I think it might be..he did recover in that fight..but I believe had Torres been in shape he would have finished cotto, because he hurt him badly it was not a flash cotto was also wobbled on a few occasions..and torres took the fight on nine days or something like that...Originally Posted by bigragu
yeah since then he's been in with really light punchers...

Id like to hear Ricky HAtton calling out Cottos name, real loud,
Non stop from now until it happens.
Deep inside he wont feel the total pinnacle of achievment until it does happen.
Just on balls power and heart its HAtton /Cotto for me as the choise fight and test at this point ,rather than Mayweather and whoever.
Hatton should get Cotto now!! right now, i think Cotto struggles on the back foot and goes missing in rounds as we saw against the feather fisted Mallaganni who actully imposed himself quite well in close the difference was basically Cotto has more to his shots than Malli, i feel Hatton goes into this favourite wihout doubt after seeing these two guys in action, Hatton should get the fight on asap.Originally Posted by Andre
Cotto will bang Hatton up? no chance Hatton would put in a supreme effort and stop him Cotto is too sqaure on cant hold a decent punch and only good for certain number of rounds !!
Cotto is not a counter puncher he needs to dig his feet in and if Tszyu couldnt get Hitman out of there what chance does Cotto have ?
People will say Ricky is to square id aggree but Ricky sets a frightening pace can take punishment and loves being met in the trenches.
Cotto's been found out well before true world level Ricky has been in with a far better quality of man and stormed through the breech Cotto looks fresh out of ideas after 5 rounds Ricky decoded a true master and beat him every department Cotto gets rocked by the likes of Corley and almost stopped against Torres .
Hatton would take the fight in a heartbeat .
Cotto is strong pressure fighter but not a banger .
Good few points. ccOriginally Posted by Swashbuckling Gordy
Im sorry but if he was such a banger Malli out of there, true he will without doubt have Hatton marked up and maybe badly but i am so certain after seeing Cotto in his last 3/4 fights, he aint world class far from it, look at Torres that guy came in at about 3/4 weeks notice and if he had been fitter probably would of taken Cotto out, Malli was all heart but Cotto could not keep up the pace against a guy who was basically picking his shots, maybe it was the weight issue, but for me Hatton taks Cotto, if Cotto cant take Malli out how the hell is he taking Hatotn out
I really hope Hatton and his team press for this fight straight away, but i dont think Cotto's team would want any of it to be honest.
Look,I tried to stay away from this thread,I really did but I can't let my boy get dissed and not retaliate, what kind of fan would I be. Cotto has now shown he can fight front foot, back foot, with power punching bangers, with boxers,he is on his way up.It's funny, this is probably the only site where people are having such a big debate over the fight and surprise surprise, most of the people saying the negative stuff are Hatton fans.Bring Hatton @ 147,I'm certain Cotto would bust him up,Hatton's face ouwld be a crimson mask. Skel brother,to question Miguel's power is silly, look at his record, and you are forgeting that PAULIE has an incredible heart, but Cotto still practically broke his face!!That is power and remember Miguel hurt his hand after round 5 yet STILL did damage.Originally Posted by skel1983
You could say the same with Collazo,a guy who fighting people with 1-1 records a year ago, pitter patter shots, stood on front of Hatton and Ricky not only did not win convincingly but many thought deserved to lose and not only that,he's not even giving a rematch!! What does that tell you?"?
cheers.
Its all about levels both mental and physical and Cotto has his flaws exposed before taking on anyone of serious note.
Ricky needs to take a leaf out of MAB book and start stealing rounds with his massively underated footwork and great jab, get off this macho bullplop .
Urkal would be the perfect fight for him to immpress.
I know Hatton can be a big player on the world scene for far longer than anyone gives him credit for but not the way he's fighting he needs a plan B but i know he knows this and the Boston fight .
I think Rick is a class above Cotto in every department.
I can see what your saying The Game, but i wasnt over impressed and i like Cotto, i like his style of fighting thats what sort of fighters i love to watch, who bring it everytime, but i just wasnt that impressed, i had him winning by 2 rounds, obviosly you know im a big Hatton fan so there is maybe a tab of bias on my part but i am very very confident he would beat Cotto, much more than if he fought PBF or Margorito.Originally Posted by The Game

Backfoot and Frontfoot ? Throwing single shots at a time getting tagged by a guy who did the same thing time and again and was well below world class .
Style over susbstance baby and as i have said its all about levels i'm a Hatton true but Ricky fought the master took everything and found the answers fact .
Are you honestly telling me Cotto has fought anyone on Kostya's level ?
Corely had him going and Torres had him not once but twice he needed 8 rounds to break up Branco 9 for Abudellev had it all his own way and never put the foot down or looked impressive all of these unproven at world class or well below it.
Ricky's last 4 fights Collazo he won moving up took alot but was never floored against a man who had dethroned a good champion in Riveria. Maussa dangerous fighter Ricky cut early but always on top made a number of mistakes calmed down adjusted and knocked his man out. Oliveria Ricky did what a previous number of champions couldnt come anywhere near to and ended his career.
and KT .
Need i say more ...?
Levels Levels Levels .
I'm not hating on Miguel i like him but i just dont think he is on a par with Ricky .
It tells me that Don King didn't build a rematch clause into the contract so his fighter got better paidOriginally Posted by The Game
It tells me boxing is a business and Collazo has nothing to offer Hatton. Zilch. A Collazo rematch means Urkal has to step aside again and WBA and HBO have to sanction it (it'll never happen!)
As for Cotto-Hatton, I reckon watch this space for a big announcement
At 140,I would agree(as much as I hate to admit it!)Hatton would beat on Cotto but at 147,I favour Cotto,I didn't see anything from Hatton at all in the Collazo fight which would suggest he can be a big player there.
I'll be honest,I'll be the first to diss Cotto if he did badly but he didn't,he worked the body, used the jab and landed good combos, powerful shots, and just banged Paulie.Paulie survived...JUST!People are confusing surviving and heart for other things!
Hahaha,as for Hatton Margarito, remember that thread once which said"Hatton v Margarito" and we were arguing over who would win, well,I'd bet my house that Margarito would KO Hatton,I mean seriously walk through him and at 147,I think PBF would win too. Ricky had time to prepare for Collazo,Collazo didn't box and still Ricky did not look impressive.
It does offer him something, the chance to answer critics and prove he belongs at 147,like I said,he was fighting a guy who has pitter patter shots, didn't box,and still could not hurt him or anything.Collazo had him out on his feet. What does fighting Urkal prove? What happened to wanting to cement his legacyOriginally Posted by 7777
