How long do injuries like these take to heal?

I'm just wondering how long in the future a rematch would be should the decision be overturned and one be ordered.

Nates full of crap. He saw that he was in with a guy who was going to keep punching and punching and punching--and he was looking for a way out. These two could fight ten times and Nate would lose ten times. When one guy is nearing his peak/prime and the other guy has passed his, the inflection point always favors the former (with a few exceptions, of course). Nate was looking at the ref throughout the fight. It was obvious he knew he was in for a good ass whupping--at least to me it was. Nate has become a primo headcase.

Alot running through the grey matter but will have to ramble on after work.I dont doubt the mans heart & his professionalism....nor do I doubt his savvy when it comes to experiencing the dark under belly that is boxings mind games...or as Lennox Lewis deemed them,politricks.And I do believe that guile played a part of his hastiness to call for....by himself....the stoppage without any examination or treatment given by the doctor or cutman.You roll the dice when you enter the ring,and you roll them in other fashions also.Knowing what we know-hear now his fans must take him at his word...and at the end of the day thats what a man has to stand on.Was it strategy,was it a bit of legit panic and concern,was it pride etc & not wanting a tko on his resume in this manner? Thats all on him now.......bottom line is that when a fighter says he cannot see to a doctor,fight is over.But the one thing that sticks with me is him viewing the cut on the overhead screen,turning the head looking at it and only then saying he could not see over and over and all but demanding a stoppage.I have always liked Nate and will continue to do so,just putting it out there.

One thing thats getting the shaft here Imo is Bradley.The man is a solid professional and faces all comers and has proven himself worthy of the Title Champion.He's taking alot of shit frankly and aside from getting his back up in the interview after Nate and others all but put him in a corner,he's conducted himself with respect and is showing improvement in his ability.The mantra pertaining to him as of late seems to be "hes not great at one thing but good at many things" nothing explosive and maybe a bit vanilla but I personally believe he's on his way to changing that and should be a face we should get used too!

I think Nate is right that it should be a NC. The severity of the cut really doesnt matter. It put him at a disadvantage. Like ive said before though, Nate is like a good politician. He says the right things and explains things well. I do see him more and more as a self important person than an everyday guy which is why I originally liked him. I dont think there is another fighter on Nates level that puts out as many statements and gets as much airtime. I dont know, I still like him but hes starting to wear on me I guess.

weeks ago nate ran after a crook who robbed a helpless old lady in a mall parking lot. tim bradley asked nate what if that robber has a gun and nate just said he has a gun too.

at least look at nate campbell as a whole person. look at what vernon forrest (rip) did too.

Rodriguez-Collins: Another argument for instant replay

On August 27, 2007 on ESPN, all action fighter Delvin Rodriguez, a native of the Dominican Repu , met talented Keenan Collins (12-2-1 with 8 Kos) of Reading, Pa., who was coming off a split decision loss. D-Rod entered the bout with a 20-2-1 record with 12 knockouts, and was coming off a KO loss to Jesse Feliciano for the USBA welterweight title. In that televised thriller, Rodriguez, dominated the early rounds, but was eventually worn down and savagely taken out by the non-stop pressure of Feliciano.

Both fighters were looking for redemption, but unfortunately both came away empty as an “accidental head-butt“ by Rodriguez opened a deep cut on the forehead of Collins in the second round and led to their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout Friday night being called a no-contest.

After a slow start, D-Rod caught fire in the second stanza, asserted himself, and made it pretty clear how this fight would end. The Collins corner, quickly seeming to recognize their fighter was in a place that was only going to get worse, contended the cut was too deep for him to continue. The fight was then halted by the doctor. Perhaps a slick move on the part of Collins’s corner, but jus another questionable one for boxing. It brought back less-than-pleasant memories of Camacho Jr vs. Jesse James Leija.

As the replay clearly showed, there was no butt, or at least none that was caught on the tapes. There was, however, a strong slashing right (the kind that cuts) that hit Collins exactly on the spot where the cut occurred. Still, Referee Eddie Claudio maintained the cut was the result of an accidental head butt.

Well, it was either one or the other, but based on what I saw (or didn’t see), I say the former. Indeed, most corners will not argue for the fight to be stopped under such conditions, that is, unless the corner belongs to a Camacho Jr against Leija. But there is one way to find out and hopefully the New York State boxing commission will use it by reviewing the tapes.

Manifestly, a boxing match should never be stopped while some judge watches a 3-minute replay of a round, but if the 60 seconds between rounds is enough time for the TV editors to give us replays of the hardest punches, ones that might have caused cuts, there is more than enough time for judges to watch those same replays? If Teddy Atlas or Joe Tessitore can do it in 30 seconds, surely a referee can as well.

It’s time for state commissions to get smart and start taking advantage of technology, albeit carefully, to help the referees and other officials make the right calls.

Postscript: The tapes were reviewed and D-Rod got the win.
