    Default Pacquiao's sparring partners

Jose Luis Castillo, imo a good choice for a sparing partner.

also Raymund Serrano, Shawn Porter, and Urbano Antillon.

Castillo is totally shot.He is attacking but he doesnt have the speed anymore to be a problem for Manny.Wonder what freddie Roach thinks to this.

i imagine that it's just cause of Castillo's body attack, since he did have a great body game, and an awesome left to the body, maybe to try and emulate it and be ready for Cotto, but IMO it's not even close at this point

Agreed. Castillo is a straight up Hall of Famer (for THAT fight with Corrales, they both will be) & it is a shame that this shell of himself is reduced to being Pacquiao's sparring partner. I was never a big fan of him as a person, but he has earned more than finishing his career like this.

If I was Pacquiao sparring Castillo, I would be worried. You know he is going to practice against the ropes and Castillo has a great body attack. I think Castillo because it is sparring might do more damage than Cotto will in their actual fight because PAcquiao isn't going to be trying just to beat Castillo, but he will also want to practice the situations that benefit him least, and Castillo having you against the ropes is still a bad place to be.

Wish Antillon would take a break from sparring him,hes a fresh up and comer in bad need of making style adjustments and coming off huge KO lose, hate to see him burn too many miles as a spar mate.

    What a crap story.

Some guy at Team Pacster bumps into some Mexican promoter that deals with Castillo.. they suggest Pac-Castillo should spar.

Breaking news!!! Castillo is sparring partner for Pacster.

Freddie Roach - "like fuck he is, take no notice of that guy, he's a prat. Fact"

It really helped Amir Khan who was ko'ed before training with Pacman. IMO its better to get your shit kicked in sparring than in a real fight, your trainer and people can be more cautious, and pull you out sooner, and you get practice with one of the top guys in the sport without risking the embarrassment of the media. I like the fact they are using Shawn Porter, he seems like a decent talent.

Nothing can beat quality time in the ring/camp with one of the best fighters going today.Definite benefits but Antillon has sparred in the past with Pacquiao, prior to the Acosta fight also. For me...Antillon is a full blown top flight contender in need of adjustments and I'm not entirely sure of how much he will learn serving under spar mate limitations that are geared at making one fighter shine and one serve a role or take a 'shit kicking'.

I think to get used to the extra size of a genuine welter... I would barely count a single blow ODLH landed as a warm up to how Cotto's shots are going to pop.. Pac is good at turning opponents, and Cotto is good at cutting off the ring if he's got a sniff of some bodywork to be done.. So i'm sure the'd be working on Pac dealing with that forward pressure...

I don't see the problem at all with this match up.. In fact i'm struggling to think of any too much better to match some of Cotto's attributes than Castillo... An imposing bald pressuring body puncher..

Haha, imagine telling Castillo 10 years ago he'll soon be a flyweights shit kicker..

I think Shawn Porter is a spectacular sparring partner. He is a bigger Cotto. a 5'7" middleweight who kind comes in like Tyson. He hits really hard and fast and goes to the body well so if Pac can hold his own with Porter he should be well enough prepared for anything Cotto can come with.
