Hard one to call but I think in the end after losing some early rounds Froch will manage to turn this into a brawl and Dirrell will not fare so well....I give Froch the SD

Dirrell may be young he may be inexperienced but he's fresher than Taylor, faster than Taylor, and bigger than Taylor, not to mention he switches up southpaw to orthodox very easily and with great results so far.

Sure I would have liked Dirrell to have a fight against someone like Edison Miranda or Sakio Bika and then I would be more sure about his success vs Froch, but I feel that IF Dirrell can get in rhythm then Froch is in for a very long night, the handspeed and athletisim of Dirrell will be too much for Froch.

Froch gets stonger in later rounds, so that could be a really big factor.

That's true and Dirrell has been lazy in the ring before, but he's also been forced to survive so he has decent experience.

I think the real question is Does Dirrell have power with those quick hands and can he take a good shot from a champion. We all know Dirrell has speed but does he close those fists in an effort to hurt someone or does he do it just to make the crowd go oooh and aahh. Can he take a shot from a legitimate champion? I think he can and he will win a UD.

I don't really see any connection in how Froch and Calzaghe fight tbh. Calzaghe had supernatural stamina, threw punches in bunches and had quality handspeed and footwork. Leave him alone dammit!

As for Froch against Dirrel. Well, I don't know really. I would like Froch to win, but I do worry about his limitations. He really isn't all that good skill wise. Taylor had him until he gassed and like someone mentioned earlier, Dirrell is younger and fresher and very fast. Maybe Froch can land hard and take away Dirrell's will but it's a big what if. I'm on the fence for this one.

I agree with Kirkland Laing and that Froch will outlast and ultimately beat Dirrell on points.

Looking on Youtube it is fairly apparent that Dirrell has the speed advantages so will definitely show Carl up in the first 4 rounds or so. After this though I can see it being a shut out for the Cobra with a unanimous points win.

Other factors in Carl's favour include:

    (1) Is a home match for Froch and he will inevitably have huge partisan support.
    (2) Looking at Dirrell's resume he has not faced anyone of Carl's level. It is unknown as to how he will fare in the trenches.
    (3) Dirrell has never fought professionaly outside the US...

Im thinking Froch by late stoppage

I'll give you that--Froch is fighting all comers, but the thing you've got to ask yourself is: is Andre Dirrell in better shape than Jermain Taylor? If the answer is yes, then Froch loses a lopsided decision.

Exactly! Dirrell is bigger than JT, he's faster, he's in better shape, and he's got some wrinkles in his game that JT didn't have, ie the ability to fight either orthodox or southpaw

Whilst Dirrell may have some tangible advantages i.e. size and speed you cannot underestimate some facts that suggest Froch will win this bout:

    (1) Dirrell has not fough professionally outside the United States. It is an uncertain as to how well he will travel. Froch, fighting in his home town will have considerable partisan support.
    (2) Looked in depth at Dirrell's resume on boxing rec and he has not faced any boxers of the calibre of Froch who has fought Jean Pascal (Current light heavy WBC Champ) and Taylor (twice beaten B-HOP) in his past 2 fights.

This is going to be a close fight IMO. I'm 60% to 40% in favor of Froch. I give Froch the advantage due to his experience and power. Not to mention the fight taking place in Nottingham. I can see how and why people would back Dirrell to beat Froch. He has the style to give him fits.

I came across this video earlier. Not sure if you guys had seen it before. Thought I'd share it.

I'm officially off the fence. Froch is going to batter him like a chip shop sausage. You've got to get hyped for a fight and sitting on the fence isn't cool when the fight is only a few days away. This is one of those times when I would have to support the home boy.

    Knock his block off Froch!

Gotta go with Froch on this one. Maybe a mid to late round stoppage.
