If Mayweather-Hatton had been reffed by someone else, then it just would have been someone else waving the fight off in the 10th and saving Hatton from further punishment.
I don't think Hatton landed more than 10 clean meaningful punches that entire night. He could've worn Margarito gloves and it wouldn't have mattered.
Is he talking about Mayweather being hurt that time Hatton missed that jab and Mayweather lost his balance avoiding it?
I don't think Mayweather was hurt at all, it was more a case of being off balance, pushed back with a jab and stumbling back onto the ropes. He was fine.
The Hatton/Mayweather fight is a tough one for me to stomach even now. Hatton was clearly in the fight up until the nutty point deduction, but Mayweather was landing the cleaner blows. Hatton got more and more reckless after that. Was it because he had lost his head or was slowing down? I would argue a mixture of both. Getting knocked down by a punch plus a ringpost kind of settles it anyway. You can't lose your head against Mayweather nor slow down.
It was a close fight up until Cortez took a point away. I think if Cortez wasn't the ref, I don't think Hatton beats Mayweather, but I think Mayweather still wins by a fairly close decision. Hatton was probably leading up until that point where Cortez takes away a point. I don't know I just remember seeing it live and haven't seen it since.
Floyd would have beaten Hatton if Ricky Hatton's own mother was the ref and Hatton never once hurt PBF. Jesus Christ. I think I gave Hatton 2 rounds, the fight wasn't close at all. There were some uncomfortable moments for Mayweather because of Hatton's pressure but he was winning the fight handily.
and if i had the right seven numbers i would have won the lottery. So it was the ref, or was it the lights, popcorn on the floor on the way to ring, he lost his lucky kermit the frog shirt before the fight, i also heard it was because the beer they served his fans was the wrong temp and caused the singing of the crowd to be a tad off key so he couldn't avoid floyd's punches...blah blah blah. Floyd is not boxing, hatton has fought multiple times since, let it rest guys. There is more to boxing than beating mayweather.

tired topic.
Hatton was simply not in the same class as Mayweather. If they fought 100 times with 100 different refs, Hatton would go 0-100. That's just the way it is.
Surely this should count as spam
I've said it before HattonHammer has that unique ability to watch the same thing we all watch and just draw the exact wrong conclusions.
That would have been all another fight for sure as Cortez did stop Hatton many time when he was absolutely legit; I also think that Cortez had no reasons to go into hatton's corner and say he might stop the fight, it was just a real discomfort for hatton's clan.
however, I think that mayweather would have still won the fight but probably via UD instead of a K.O. Thus said, to this day, I am still undecided about the jab thingie; he has been landed clean on the button but it is difficult to say if floyd was stunned or just off-balance, i looked at the sequence often and still can't decide about it.

Mayweather whooped Hatton ASS!! end of in round 1 Floyd stumbled he werent hurt and yes Cortez was abit harsh at times but as he says he is fair but he is firm. The Mayweather camp had highlighted the hook and hold tactics of Hatton and why shouldnt Hatton get told about it without looking at the scorecards i think it was 98-92 Floyd before the KO so no Hatton werent going to win if Hatton was a better fighter he would have had a plan B and fought from distance but he couldnt because he would get picked off easier. I remember Hatton saying before the fight if he stands toe to toe with me he's gunna get eaten well Floyd did and he was far better at rough house tactics than Hatton and in my mind this was the fight that finished Hatton he took to many clean hard shots over 10 rounds and Pacquiao got the scraps that were left. I know your a massive Hatton fan but he got beat by the better fighter one of the best fighters of all time.
