Martinez is a nice slick southpaw. But for being a slick southpaw he does stay wide open and he does get hit solid a lot. Eventually Pavlik will catch him. And Pavlik will probably catch him a few good times during their fight. I can't see Martinez making it through 12. I am going for Martinez but I just keep seeing Pavlik catching him too much.

And i don't think he's improved that much since that fight, and if Antonio Margarito can beat him. Who is a similar pressure fighter to Kelly Pavlik. Due to the fact there big guys for the weightclass, who throw a ton of punches.

Then i don't see why Kelly Pavlik can't win, and i think he's being forgotten. Just because he moved up two weightclass, and looked stale vs Bernard Hopkins. When he didn't even belong at that weightclass.

Im not saying Kelly Pavlik is some great fighter, he isn't. But he's exciting as they come, and he has a good reach. Along with good power, and he's very good at setting things up off the jab.

And im going with Kelly Pavlik because i've been a fan of his, for quite a few years now. And even though i do like Sergio Martinez, i do think he has been overrated somewhat. Or maybe im just being too harsh on him i don't know really, but whatever im going with my boy Kelly Pavlik.
If he hadn't gotten better since the Margarito fight we wouldn't be talking about him against Pavlik and he wouldn't have taken Paul Williams to the limit and beaten Cintron.
Really ? because Sergio Martinez has always been a solid fighter, i don't think he's dramatically improved since the Antonio Margarito fight. He would of always have beaten Kermit Cintron, who i don't rate at all.

And he would of give Paul Williams a tough fight at anytime, due to the style problems that Paul Williams has with slick Southpaws.

But again as i said earlier i still don't rate Sergio Martinez, as high as you all do on this board. I think his defense is wide open, and i'd like to see how his chin holds up, when he takes a flush shot off a good puncher like Kelly Pavlik.

But if he beats Kelly Pavlik, then i will jump on the bandwagon. But as for now i can't get the Antonio Margarito fight, out of my mind. But if he can beat a similar pressure fighter in Kelly Pavlik. Then i will be sold on him.

I have only seen Martinez a few times and the same for Pavlik. Martinez is a pesky lefty with some pop while grit stamina and determination goes to the champ. Kelly is a classic stand up fighter and Martinez is a moving flamboyant style fighter. He is what we know as high energy vs. a steady pressuring high volume, heavy fist fighter. Martinez is fats and Pavlik is a high volume straight puncher. Martinez moves in awkward movements and balance is the only thing that hasn't been discussed and with all of Sergio's movement and speed, there is where he has a big gaping hole for Pavlik to exploit.

Martinez is gonna put it to Pavlik, just like Paul would've; Pavlik is too one dimensional.

I can't believe you don't see a difference in Martinez over the last 10 years, that's crazy talk. His jab is more solid, his feet are quicker and he rolls with punches much better, all things that made the difference in his Williams fight. If he hadn't of improved on those things he would have lost to Cintron (I mean actually lost) and lost to Williams.

Martinez is probably one of the most improved fighters of this era, looking at his fight with Margarito to what he is doing now is like day and night.
