Default Hopkins Proves Me Right Again......

This man is a joke. Despicable!!! I don't get how people defend him.

He fought yet another dirty fight without being penalized. How does that continue to happen? He was leading with his head the whole fight and hitting low, behind the head and the back but as soon as he gets touched in any of those places he turns from boxer to actor. i couldn't believe what i was seeing.

I like that ref but in that fight, he didn't call it correctly. Hopkins faked 3 times but Jones still trying to fight him straight up, had 2 cuts from headbutts and didn't complain. You do the math.

I could never respect him as a boxer. He's a detriment to what boxing is supposed to be.

One last thing. His only impressive performances were against men smaller than him in Tito, Oscar and Pavlik. Every other fight he fought dirty as hell.

So how does a guy go from being called dirty, to being called crafty? Like I said before. Joke!!!

the issue here is surley with the referee rather than hopkins who will bend the rules as far as he is allowed to... had the ref warned him early on then maybe it would have been different

Then I guess you can blame every ref that does his fights because he fights like that all the time. I keep hearing that he's old and thats the reason but come on now. That's how he really fights.

Funny how people only see what they hear.

No, Hopkins is disgusting. You are right.

The guy cannot beat any opponent fairly. Jones beat Hopkins again as as I am concerned. Hopkins looked like an idiot because he is an idiot.

I know Hopkins put on a bad showing. He fought dirty and totally over reacted to Jones illegal blows.

Hopkins isn't all to blame for the fight being so bad though.

Jones was scared to engage and barely threw any punches especially compared to Hopkins who doesn't throw alot anyway, and he fought dirty himself.

Both guys clinched alot but what did anyone expect ? both guys are 40+ years old.

Regarding your comments on Hopkins best performances only being over "smaller" men you must not of seen his fights against Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, etc.

Lets just ignore the fact that two of those fighters (Tito, Pavlik) that were so "small" were heavily favored to beat him and were supposed to knock him out.

The De La Hoya fight was at a catchweight of 156 for Hopkins 160 pound title but Hopkins was willing to drop down an extra 4 pounds where De La Hoya only had to go up 2 pounds being that he was a natural Junior Middleweight at that point.

here is the thing, Hopkins doing all that 'fake injury' stuff is a ploy.

Its a ploy to buy himself time so that he doesn't run out of gas. If a ref told him to get up and stop faking he's run out of stamina.

I don't think there's a ref alive that would be able to force Hopkins to alter his style.

It's a horrible style and Hopkins keeps on getting away with it. Fighters should bring it up before the fight and make a point of not letting him get away with it. If I was Jones I would have embarrassed Hopkins and given him something really worth acting over. If that means the DQ, then so be it. Take yer revenge and shove it up yer rear!

I get what you say about Jones not engaging but if look at how hopkins leads with his head, it makes it impossible to get a punch off that way without getting hit with a forehead and getting busted up or even ko'ed.

He did the same thing with Calzaghe and that's the only reason he didn't get stopped in that fight. Not to mention the acting that bought him time to regain energy.

I can't take another hopkins excuse. Really I can't. When you have a guy that just about every time he fights, his fans have to make excuses, somethings wrong.

By the way,the fight with Tarver was the same crap. They all look the same bro. Don't be fooled by the commentary man.

exactlly, hopkins is a win at all costs type fighter, the ends justify the means and all that, it is an ugly way to fight but again its up the ref to step in and warn him

after all it is a fight.. in an ideal world everyone would fight to the reuls and not try anything underhand but its not the way it is

I've never been a Hopkins fan (and it made me quite unpopular on this site a few years ago when he was riding high)

I always thought he was a spoiler, a bit of a scuffler who was hardly ever in good fights ...... a tough guy to beat because he knows all the old tricks and moves. I always thought he was distasteful .... wearing an executioners costume into the ring for a sport where several thousand people have died over the years.

He never has had any respect for an opponent, and these are all brave skilled guys who get in there at that level.

I noticed that he made more defences than Monzon or Hagler - I'm sorry, but he didnt defend against the likes of Hearns and Duran. The middleweight division was actually overshadowed by the supermiddles for most of his career, whereas it didnt exist when the other guys were around so more people fitted into the middleweight class.

He has also devalued his own reputation with his ridicilous gamesmanship and play acting against calzaghe and now Jones. Both fighters who would have easily defeated him when he was in his prime, just like James Toney, Nigel Benn and others.

Go away, Bernard, you are an insult to the fight game.

    Hate Hopkins, always have.
He fights like his eyes are mounted in the top of his head.
