Default Froch-Kessler - who wins? (poll)

Time to put our money where our mouth is. I just heard Froch on the radio sounding rather paranoid about being robbed. Says Kessler has the ability to fiddle his way to a points victory.

I've been backing FRoch to be knocked out for about the last 7 years. I was clearly wrong about him. He gets unfair criticism on this site, he's better than most make out and at the least a serious tough bastard.

Having said that.. I'm picking Kessler by late stoppage/PTS

if you asked me this question a year ago i would of nailed down a 100% for a kess stoppage win

But froch just keeps surprising me. He has that calzaghe esque ability to adapt to situations and can fight on the front and back foot.

Im still gonna go with a narrow kessler points win as i feel froch may just be a bit to timid early on. But all the same i wouldnt be surprised if froch pulled it off and if he did it would far exceed anything calzaghe ever did

Please stop comparing Froch with Calzaghe. You are the only person on Earth that can see Calzaghe in FRoch. They are nothing alike. Nothing. Well they both have a solid chin. But that's it.

I could hardly think of two more different fighters.

And Hammer I really don't see Froch as very adaptable. He didn't adapt vs Pascal, or Taylor, or Dirrell. But he still managed to win them though so i'm not going to criticise him. He has his style and it happens to have eventually worked in his last three fights. (well actually it didn't work against Dirrell, which is probably when he most needed some 'adaptability').

Im simply stating that he has that unique ability to adapt to different fights just like calzaghe did

And who are we to say froch wont be better than calzaghe. At this stage of his career calzaghe was fighting tomato cans at cardiff arms park.

Froch is the best of the 6 fighters if you ask me, just think he may get taken aback come saturday night and fall a tad short

Hammer, what fights has Froch shown his adaptability in? And what did he do to adapt?
I think you mean tenacity rather than adaptability. He certainly has plenty of tenacity.

I think you mean tenacity rather than adaptability. He certainly has plenty of tenacity.

lets just look at his last 3 fights

jean pascal - from the word go froch goes at 100miles an hour and batters pascal all over the place. Eventually by 3-4 pascal is getting back into it and the out an out fight is beginning to suit the canadian. Froch adapts his style to pot shotting his way to victory and comes away with a unanimous win

jermain taylor - froch is 2nd best early doors taken aback by the hostile crowd and even knocked down by a flash punch. From 6 onwards froch uses his boxing ability to get back into the fight and by the 12th he is able to chop down taylor mainly due to the work he did earlier in the fight.

Andre Dirrell - you know, i know it, froch knows it - dirrell didnt come to fight, he came to run for 12rounds which is exactly what he did. Could froch afford at any stage to go on an all out assault? course not, dirrell would simply pick him off at will. Instead the cobra beats dirrell at his own game and takes a comfortable win

    now thats adaptability for you!!!

I think in the pascal fight when it was close he showed that he changed his game plan in order to change his style to change the pace of the fight. It was very close up until this point. In the Taylor fight again as Taylor showed his decline as he does in every fight he upped the pace and kept coming forward to eventually stop him.

I think this fight is going to be very close and its a case of who wants it more. I think Froch has had to dig deep a lot recently and in those fights I think he has gained a lot of experience in situations which he has turned around the result from losing the fight to winning it. I think Kessler has been on the decline since the Calzaghe fight and thats been clear from his performances of late. I think the Ward fight shows that he is beatable and he really doesnt have a second game plan. I expect a very exciting brawl and I think Carl will do enough to walk away champion with a spectacular late stoppage. COME ON FROCHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fenster couldn't have done that any better.

Anyways, I think Kessler is finally the guy who burst this mythical bubble of Froch's.

I think Kessler in a great war for as long as it lasts. I can't wait for this fight.

    I hope Froch wins though.

Kessler, bit no where near 100% on him, maybe I'm picking him cos I hate that crow nosed twat . Thought he struggled to put his punches together against Perdomo and that was confirmed against Ward, not the same fighter he was 3 years ago and the only legitimate oppponent he had since JC he lost to decisively.

Just like Hammer, a year or two ago I would have had Kessler all day, but now, I think not. I'm still not 100% sold on the Granite Chin of Froch to be honest, but if that holds firm, I see Froch beating the fight out of Kessler. Kessler will be there, straight up, not elusive, not incredibly difficult to hit and Froch is quite similar, just that Froch maybe has a bit more variety of punches for me and a bit more of an awkward target. I think it'll be a battle of will and determination down the stretch, and going on Kesslers will, he looked a beaten man against Ward, I think Froch grinds it out and stops him late on, inside the championship rounds. I see a repeat of the Ward fight, just with Froch providing guts and fire power rather than the movement and boxing ability of Ward to beat Kessler down. I'm going out on a limb here but after this fight, I think Kessler will be done.

i think had the fight taken place 18 months ago Kessler all the way. things have changed. i think frochs championship heart and tenacity will be enough for him to gain a close hard fought decision win

I think Froch wins by knockout! Kessler is definitely the technically better fighter so i suppose I should go with him! but I've noticed he does not have that same will to win that Froch seems to have. And unless he's learnt to adapt he either gets stopped or Froch robbed.
